Thank you! Someday I need to do a video about the original quilted pig. Unfortunately she lost an eye to a puppy chewing about 15 years ago. 😂

I am brand new to sewing and I have to say,you are seriously one of the best teachers I have seen. And I have seen alot this month lol. Thank you so much, what a wonderful time we live in. I am 67 and I tried learning sewing years ago more than once and always gave up. With the Internet I am enjoying every moment, even all the picking❤

This is awesome I’m not kidding this is great! Your technique is how I will finish all my future quilts. Doing it the way I was sometimes I would pull the binding over too far and then I had to go back and hand stitch all those yet doing the decorative stitch like you did will catch all of that and I won’t have to go back and do any handstitching, yahoo! thank you so much for this tutorial, I really did learn a lot ❤️

What width do you cut the fabric for the binding
@QuiltedPigPhoebe3 ай бұрын
Hi good morning! It started as two and a half inches.

@@QuiltedPigPhoebe Thank you I have cut my binding 2.5in which has been cut for a week as I am working on a quilt for myself so lucky I cut it at that 😅
@QuiltedPigPhoebe3 ай бұрын
I'm glad it will work out! Two and a quarter is enough for this idea, but 2.5 gives you a little wiggle room. Have fun and keep quilting. Thanks for commenting!

This is a great tutorial for me a new quilter! We should utilize the decorative stitches just like you did. Do you ever trim back the corners in binding them?
@QuiltedPigPhoebe5 ай бұрын
Absolutely. On the wrap around (last) step, if a corner looks like it will just too bulky to be covered, I'll start by trimming out a little of the batting. Usually that does it, but sometimes it helps to trim off just a little of the folded inside corner of the binding. Just be careful because you want the binding to be "full," and you don't want a hole to show up later. Good luck, and thank you for watching!

Great reminders for me particularly the specialty thread stand and a small cutting mat for small pieces. I also like your suggestion of bring several shades of a color if you have them in your stash. My hands get very dry handling fabric, so a small tube of hand lotion is in my bag as well.

Lotion is a great idea. I keep a little tube in my purse for the same reason and didn't think of an extra for my workshop bag. Thank you!

The clamp is to aid the sewer when ripping out a seam etc. It holds the fabric ( Sometimes called "the sewing bird" )… It is a shame someone replaced the cord with that generic "Made In China" cordset. The bakelite connector is gone and the original cord was fabric covered ( this can be purchased from old radio supply companies as well as a correct plug.

Great tips. I know a lot of gals that just hate doing the binding but I love it. I usually do stitch in the ditch for binding because I really want to do a great job of catching that loose side of the binding on the back but also like the option of using my decorative stitches on my machine. I don't free motion quilt but have also used the fancy stitches for quilting. Love the giant clip for keeping the quilt out of my way for joining the binding. That's the worst part is fighting with the quilt.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. And, yes, there are so many uses for the bigger binder clips.

Great video! *HOW TO FILL PILLOW CASES FOR *FREE* & SAVE OUR PLANET!*: Just directly FILL the pillow WITH POLYFIL FOR * FREE * OBTAINED FROM DISCARDED a PILLOW TYPE SOFA COUCH ATTACHED ARMS & BACK. JUST USE A SHARP KNIFE TO CUT OPEN SOFA COUCH FABRIC TO REMOVE THE POLYFIL. THE HIDDEN POLYFIL IS USUALLY VERY CLEAN, BUT IF SLIGHTLY DIRTY, SIMPLY PLACE IN BATHROOM TUB, SPRAY SOME CLEANER ON AND RINSE OFF AND ALLOW TO DRY OVERNIGHT! Discarded sofa couch chairs can be found by apartment or thrift store dumpsters and can contain enough to fill a dozen pills and trash is free for the taking/using/reusing! Take care

Can the pillow be washed with filling?
@QuiltedPigPhoebe Жыл бұрын
It really depends what what filling you use because some hold up better than others. I would not put poly stuffing in the dryer. If you find that it gets lumpy over time, you could open up the pillow again and pull and re-fluff the stuffing like shown in the video.
@TheEvie2025 ай бұрын
I ‘d put the fiber turfts into sew into sew- in interfacing then into pillow cover. Makes changing out covers for washing easier. My pillows never look lumpy because I cover foam forms with interfacing. Foam is much more expensive but lasts decades.
