Joan Hickson's speech with its flawless pronunciation is a joy in itself, and makes these short stories even more of a pleasure. And of course it's a joy to listen to Hugh Fraser and David Suchet too.

Excellent! No irritating background music. I’m here because I couldn’t listen any longer to the ‘Gregorian chant’ or ‘clunky piano’ background ruining Juliet Stevenson’s perfect narration on the other channel.

How appalling to call Astarte/Ishtar/Isis, the Mediterranean goddess of fertility and the seasons, the enemy of Christianity. Astarte was never celebrated with anything approaching violence. I suppose Christians are afraid of anything which acknowledges female power

Have they ever made this into a TV episode or Movie? I can see in my mind it would make a good show or even two parter.

Outstanding performance, the best, of some of most entertaining stories. Still, a misunderstanging remains for me: in "Christmas tragedy", how could it be possible the outdoor clothes of poor Gladys beeing in the same time on Gladys, visiting her friends in the town, a quarter of an hour distance, during the winter, and on poor Mary's dead body, impersonating murdered Gladys, on the floor of her hotel room ? Please explain me ! Thank you.

Great to listen to while doing housework, sorting miscellaneous papers and the like. Means one is not "doing nothing" and gets work done. Thanks a mill for download.

Nothing better than Joan Hickson listening in a cozy bed as you drift back in time to an old English mystery. Fluff your pillows and sink into the cozy countryside

Contrary to stated titles for the videos, these are taped audio readings. "GOOD JOB"! Could I work for you? At least I could get the thumbnail titles and the actual presentation to match...... I realize that may a radical concept for those involved with producing the videos, but just something that may be worth considering.
