I’m guessing this is why there hasn’t been a video in a while. Glad to see new videos coming out. Keep them coming please.

A 3D printed "AR-15" is a misnomer. Let's be perfectly honest. It's amazing what they'll put on KZfaq to fool you.

Did you say if the rifle is bedded? At what torque would the action start flexing...if not bedded. Interesting stuff Thanks

Not a gunsmith but I’ve spent years on both manual lathe and CNC.. I personally prefer manual lathe. When I was running machines I held myself to lower tolerances than required and took pride in smooth clean cuts. I ran a lot of powder cast aluminum parts and the head tool and die guy that had like 40 years of experience was impressed with not only how clean and accurate my work was, but the speed I could do it in. I worked in another shop that was heavily tooled in CNC. I learned to run and write programs but I honestly don’t care for it. For me I can get tighter tolerances and cleaner cuts on a manual lathe. That company had a manual lathe in excellent condition under a tarp. I asked my foreman if I could run it and he said sure if you know what you are doing because he didn’t know how and didn’t even know if it worked. The head boss seen me running it a couple days later and said he didn’t think anyone in the shop could run it and was super impressed with with the parts I was kicking off of it and gave me a big raise on the spot. Love working in a machine shop, but didn’t want to spend my life standing on concrete all day, every day. If I was to learn gunsmith and start my own business there wouldn’t be a CNC in the place.

At the end of the day the bottom line issue with 22LR is the ammo itself. Every rifle/barrel you still need to find brand and lot that shoots well. Why do they offer so many different lots of ammo? Because the manufacturer cannot make the cartridges precise enough. The lead bullet is not uniform like a copper bullet,the lead bullet mushrooms out when the brass is crimped(loose or tight),primer not flowing all around the rim, list on and on.
@EagleEyeShooting6 күн бұрын
You know the ammo that is made for the day is the same ammo branded as SK Standard Plus or X-Act that was made on the same machine and exact same components right??? The ammo manufacturers do not build ammo to specific lot numbers. The ammo is tested from the batch made. Depending on the performance, is labeled and marketed per its performance. This shows that mass manufacturing goes through tolerance changes. Building a barrel that is less sensitive to harmonic changes will yield a rifle that will consistently shoot many lots well... Hence what I built here

I keep asking myself "why does anyone need more than one competition 22LR rifle". And then videos like this come out.
@tommykawasaki96768 күн бұрын
NEED, has nothing to do with anything. Ask only if you WANT another competition 22LR rifle. Of course you do. Now go get it. Get two. They are small & very enjoyable.

Maybe a dumb question, but arent you leaving a ton of empty case volume? It was always my understanding that you want to find a powder that worked at or near capacity to keep pressures as even as possible. That said, you results are hard to argue with.

One of the 100yd shots went up high out of the “group.” Did you notice if the velocity was significantly different?

Are these the same barrels with rachet rifling used in the CZ builds I've seen videos on?

These are my own barrels. We started using them on all builds since January this year.
@RimfireAddicted7010 күн бұрын
@EagleEyeShooting that's awesome! My wife is going to divorce me if I come up with another lame excuse for a new rifle but a new barrel isn't lame by technical standards.
