Not sure why they could not just have black spear in the space marine or imperial agents codex, or a supplimemt. Imperial Agents should just be an army that blends other imperial forces around inquistor shenanigans like they are attempting with Grey Knights and Sisters. Throw Astra Militarum in for good measure.

Great breakdown

So for Xenos, the issue is that you can only field half of what you need for the Inquisition Kill Team with what's in the box since they're all dual-build kits and you have nothing else to pair them with. The Deathwatch Kill Team also needs 6 models, not 5, so you need to source one more there as well. For Hereticus, you can pair the Agents with the Exaction squad, which technically gives you 2 full teams, along with the Sisters who can be a Compendium Kill Team, so 3 total. For Maleus, you get double the Agents which can give you the full models for that specific team without needing to pair up with anyone else. The Grey Knight Kill Team has the same issue as the Deathwatch, you need 1 more model for the Compendium squad.

Personally, the Ordo Xenos one is the most tempting, with a lot of different cool unit including that big flyer

It does look they just randomly picked bits to go into the box sets. I think some of the Necromuda gangs actually would have had a better look if the Codex had rules for pressing gangs into service.

I wonder, do you think they will include a "requisitioned unit datasheet" for the basic units available, in the Agents Codex itself? like a sheet for "Requisitioned Battle Sisters", a sheet for "Requisitioned GK Termies" etc?

I really like the idea of the Imperial Agent faction. It feels very Rogue Trader. No cohesion in a good way. The new Coteaz model, on the other hand, is definitely not for me.

As Deathwatch player im still spooked, I dont have a Blackstar and wanted the voidsman so the xenos box looks good for me.

These battle forces really look like ‘stuff we can’t sell’ box 1-3. I think if you green stuff on a loincloth on the new model it would be passable. Probably alter the bird to a transparent flight stand too. These rules are going to be very good, then post sales nerfed into the ground (see Orks).

I think they were going for a 1920s art deco diving bell Bioshock design for the power armour... and realistic scaling for a human in a suit of PA. Didn't work out unfortunately. I tried ordering the old model as soon as this one was shown off but the GW site kept giving out of stock errors after CC authorisation and then changed to sold out within 2 hours, sigh. Hopefully the battleforces are cheaper than normal, at previous battleforce prices they are an easy pass from the look of it.

I like this a lot because I’m not a tournament player. I prefer crusade or semi-competitive casual matched play games. So, the option to use a diverse group of minis in games and to add them to my collection sounds great. Also, I’m surprised to be interested in the codex itself. That is if it has some good art, painting guides, lore, etc.

Looking back at this atter playing the (now old) Tau CP, the ethereal was the 2nd strongest unit in that army (next to the ghostkeel) ONLY because his enhancements absolutely slapped. The +1 save and 5+ FNP to nearby infantry made the army an absolute raidboss to take down when it had absolutely no right to be, and he had lone op and hes super fast, so hes insanely hard to kill.... RIP old tau CP

Am I correct in understanding that any imperium army can take the requisition units from other factions? For example space marines (let’s say black Templars) can take a unit of battle sisters???

Easy win : ‘Boarding Patrol’ boxes for a detachment that also fill in a different niche to Combat Patrols eg. Magus, maybe a Clamavus, 20 Acolytes and some metamorphs. Allows a discount option into the game mode whilst also offers an additional ‘other’ purchase for those who want to move from Combat Patrol to 1000pts for example. Obviously going to be issues (Admech…) but just a really easy win and adds another box to shelves of retailers

I would say that the boarding patrol box of Sisters would be a better fit here compared to this. But if GW was to make it different, then I would have included 2 Battle Sisters sprues which can be used as Dominions. That would allow the box to still meet the 2 battle line units that said character can lead. (glares at Tau Combat Patrol for fucking cheating)

I'll definitely be buying this book. I agree that the White Dwarf conversion of Boarding Actions hasn't felt quite right for 10th edition. I have a bunch of custom rules I use to account for that, but I'm eager to see what Games Workshop has in store.

Boarding Actions rules (~500 points, no vehicles/monsters) appears to be exactly what the new Combat Patrol boxes are. Wonder if they will re-brand the current Combat Patrol boxes?

People were calling Skaventide a failure before it even hit shelves simply because it didn't sell out within the first 2 minutes in on the GW website on preorders. It's far too early to tell if it is a failure or not, as it hasn't even been a week. That being said, Skaventide knocked it out of the park with the models and content. My only complaints are minor things: The box is flimsy, there's no dice, and the amount of models can be overwhelming, but that last part is part of the fun.

With the 40k ultimate starter set vs. Leviathan, I can see the allure of the former: it has terrain, boards and the mini-rulebook that were not in Leviathan. But I really don't get what is the point of the AoS Ultimate Starter Set next to Skaventide... If Skaventide was no longer available, sure. But unless they deliberately pull it from stores, it will be around for months with how things are going. Even one of the smaller local game stores shows over 70 copies in stock and the tiniest game store around has 20 out of the 25 copies they brought in still available. Sigmar is way less popular round these part than the global average, but still, I can't see Skaventide selling out anytime soon even in the US or UK.

Always when I read "easy to build" and "no glue needed" on models, I don't buy them. They are always afterwards look worse than regular ones - gaps that only glue could seal, for example. And they are monopose. But I also know a person that loves the easy to build stuff. So maybe good for beginners, yes

Skaventide is an absolutely exceptional box. It's easily the best starter set I've ever bought.

Splitting boxes I mainly an option for Stormcast. Looking at eBay or Kleinanzeigen (Germany) there are plenty of people offering the Stormcast cheap or reasonably priced but hardly any or none that offer the Skaven for a reasonable price of the Skaventide box.

There were only a few models I was interested in Skaventide, I was mainly interested in the Spearhead rulebook and deck, so the Ultimate set is really good in my opinion. Will check out the launch prices and if its alot cheaper then I'll snag one, otherwise I might end up biting the bullet and getting Skaventide down the line.

The push off frames are great, I wish they did more stuff with them because they have fewer burs than using clippers on normal sprues

Don’t need the new one w/ the old combat / boarding / single box of sisters then?

I was lucky to find both the boarding patrol and the purgatos mission boxes at a local game store last week, even though they were at GW prices. I couldn't pass it up, especially since it seems like immolators are kinda hard to come by right now. It's hard to know what to do next. I kinda want to go get the old combat patrol they also had but those weird unit sizes and mono-pose models...

I would also suggest trying to find issues of the Imperium magazine with the Necrons stuff, because some of those are amazing deals at MSRP. Sure, buying three copies of issues with the wraiths or tomb blades is barely cheaper than just buying boxes of those, but if you can find an issue with the Royal Court, it's a stupidly amazing discount. I bought the Imperium issue with that set at the standard price, and even then I was still paying about a quarter of the cost I'd be paying if I ordered the Royal Court from GW.
