Maybe it's just in my head but I think this substance works for me. Over the course of around 4 years, for my brown and reddish spots I've tried vitamin c (only some products with stable forms of the vitamin worked but just a little, making my complexion brighter overall so the spots still sticked out), acids (were working when applied in high% for up to 10 minutes but my skin stopped tolerating that and lower % leave-on products itritate me even more), azelaic acid (made me paler overall so not exactly the goal), retinol and retinal (good for anti-aging but did nothing to my discoloration😂), bakuchiol (works beautifully for me but super slowly). Tranexamic acid seems to bring me results practically in weeks 😊

Good day! I am an organic cosmetic formulator. Today I made a facial serum and instead of making the pH 4.5, I accidentally took it up to 7.59. I did bring it down to 4.5 but now I'm worried that this will affect it's efficacy and shelf life. What do I do?

I don't trust a man who doesn't blink. He's trying too hard, which, for me, makes anything that comes out of his mouth blablablablabla. He also looks like he has no fat layer. I hope he doesn't get a debilitating disease, because we need some body fat to survive. Also I think he needs to cut down on the coffee. Or ginger. Or whatever he's on lol. Muffin, I'm always happy to listen to you; you make sense, and you can back up your facts. And you don't hype, because you're an ACTUAL scientist.

I haven't tried "La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5+", but for another WAY CHEAPER and easily available option that will save some hyper-dry skin, there's the "Ego QV Dermcare Stingfree Ointment". Might not be as cosmetically elegant, I don't know, for my use it doesn't matter. (Edit: Actually now that I google it some more, this is not a replacement at all as far as the texture goes, and also as far as the soothing ingredients go and that whole use-case, it's just a nicer version of straight Vaseline lol, but I'll leave the rest of my comment for anyone curious anyway) It's petrolatum-based, but not just a shitty pure petrolatum film that never goes away. It's hydrating at the same time, and given enough time, it does eventually fully sink in (though probably not where your skin is a bit oily). It's definitely not something I would wear through the day, but it's just awesome for when you have those spots that are dry as hell and need emergency attention. I also like to put it on pimples after they have been extracted, to help it heal extra well with that occlusive barrier that will last a good while. I think it's our (Australia) equivalent of like, Aquaphor in America, maybe. I was looking for such a product and couldn't find one here, oddly. Like a hole in the market. Which leads to the other thing; I don't know if anyone really knows of it's existence, because it hardly even has a name, and the name doesn't communicate what it's good for. "Stingfree ointment".... seemingly really poor marketing there.

I've been using Niche Beauty's Transparent Lab Invisible Sunscreen for the past month, and I love it. The price is incredible, and it's 100ml, which means it actually lasts all month. It's goopy yellow at first, and then sinks into my (pale, dry) skin. No trace, easy to reapply. Comes in a pump bottle. 👍

Fascinating. I've had very nice hair after using a leave in spray for the last several years so I just went to check the ingredients. It's the third ingredient lol. I'm sure it's nicer than what you mentioned and I say that with confidence, it's a 21 in 1 leave in spray by Pureology called Color Fanatic multi tasking leave in conditioner. It's very nice but expensive 35-55usd, I originally got it just as a heat protectant for hair straightening since it had all the conditioning factors with it. One of the best discoveries I've ever made. I just put it on after towel drying hair. The price is worth it considering it is a heat protectant and does so much conditioning for hair, highly recommend.

What I don't get is this. I from rural Romania. Absolutely nobody uses sunscreen and they're out in the field many hours a day at sometimes 40 degrees in the summer. I have 14 people that I know in the city that died of cancer, yet none were skin cancer, and none were in the rural area. Moreover, I don't know one greek, Italian or Spanish person that uses it. As in I know there's people from those countries that probably use it, but none of the ones I met do. And working in hospitality their ages range between 20 to 80. Went to Greece, only people using suncream were tourists. Yet in England, were I live now, everyone uses sunscreen in the summer and their skin looks horrendous here, for most people

Hey, Michelle! I keep seeing patents surrounding something that sounds like really dope, possibly long-lasting hair color using amodimethicone with heat, solvents, or ancient ritual magicks to make a cured resinous film that's flexible, coats individual strands, and isn't all gross, clumped, and chalky or goopy like halloween store color sprays & gels. The claim is that it can fix in place a list of insoluble and/or large colorants so extra it would make Evan & Katelyn blush. Henkel (WO2022223236A1), KAO (WO2024070830A1), and L'Oreal (FR3137285A1) just to name a few. I've got a cosmetology license, so I'm searching both pro- and consumer-side, but I haven't been able to find products like this yet apart from a couple of kinda weaksauce half-implementations just augmenting a typical oxidative or direct dye. Are you aware of anything that's available? I neeeeed hypershift holo highlights in my life.

@LabMuffinBeautyScience
@LabMuffinBeautyScience 22 сағат бұрын
I don't think I'm the best person for it, it's more of a specialised condition than something handled with cosmetic or over the counter products (prevalence is about 1% in the population, vs over 50% for hyperpigmentation) and I don't have any personal experience with it myself - maybe ask one of the dermatologists?

@@LabMuffinBeautyScience thanks for replying, Michelle. I was expecting this response due to the nature of vitiligo as an autoimmune condition. Nevertheless, your content and the way you present it is incredible and very easy to follow.

Ooo interesting! I was using alpha arbutin for pih before switching to tranexamic acid because I heard it talked about more. In either case, I couldn't really tell if it was helping my spots clear faster than if I weren't using the ingredients, but i might switch back to alpha arbutin. I kiiiinda feel like that ingredient was more effective and this is enough to convince me

i was on a hair loss forum years ago and everyone in the community knew the silver bullet was 5-ar inhibitors like finasteride or dutasteride [other than anti-androgen] for men and nothing else worked for androgenetic alopecia. Even minoxidil isn't something that does anything to stop the cell damage that DHT hormone does to hair follicles that are sensitive to DHT. Hop on finasteride or dutasteride if you care about your hair as a man while you still have a full head of hair. That is the only cure. If it's gone, it's gone. Oils are beneficial if you have scalp dryness or dandruff.
