Apparently, the real reason the elven king is unnamed in the Hobbit is because Tolkien couldn't decide whether it should be Thranduil or another one (can't remember if it was Thingol or Gilgalad). In the end, this saved a lot of revision. In theory, it is possible for Legolas to have been there for in the Two Towers he fondly refers to Aragorn and Gimli as "children" when talking about Fangorn Forest. While I do not know Gimli's age at this point in the story, Aragorn is somewhere around 80, which would put him at around 2 years old at the time of Bilbo's adventures. I'd estimate that, at the very least, he's a few hundred years old, maybe even close to a thousand because the way he says it indicates that he hasn't felt young for a very very long time.

Wow, narration not filled with ‘googly’ emotion. But firm, fair and consistent speech. Kudos.

Thanks. Some people complain about the monotone. But each video is chopped into about 30 sections which are recorded separately and sometimes multiple takes to keep it sounding consistent. ☺️

As for legolas choosing to heal and rebuild rather than be king, as king, he probably could've done even more. Look at the Royal family and all the great works they achieve - the Princes Trust for one. Presidents are more likely to create conflict and be corrupt - look at Putin

I always thought he didn't become king because he heard the seagull and it caused a terrible yearning in him to go to the sea. Also, never read that his dad died

Legolas never became King of the Greenwood (Mirkwood) realm of his father Thranduil. But this might not only be because his father had not died. My question is - how long did the Elven realm of Greenwood survive into the Fourth Age? The time of the Elves in Middle Earth was ending, and I’m sure that Legolas was only the first of the Greenwood Elves to experience the sea-longing. As the centuries passed, many (and eventually all) of the Greenwood Elves would have moved to the Grey Havens, and from there sail to Valinor.

I clicked for the Title/topic, but the artwork as the video played? omgs!!! I always loved the 'LoTR/The Hobbit' and was totally enthralled with the different Races and their interactions. I couldn't get enough of Professor Tolkiens' world, growing up, and to this day still find it absolutely fascinating! (How ONE Man did this, I will never understand, but I'm happy he did!)

The one above all who created them, created Morgoth to do what he did. and Sauron... The ring was meant to pass to bilbo, so Melkor was meant to attack middle earth, was meant to lose, and sauron was meant to take over. Create the ring, lose the ring, the ring passes to gollum by intent, passes to Bilbo as he was meant to have it. And Thus frodo was meant to be the ring bearer and Gollum was meant to overpower frodo at the end and fall in the fires of mount doom, destroying the ring and sauron... So sauron was meant to die. And middle earth was meant to be inherited by humanity. Who eventually created black magic cults who became evil. ( Today's world is rulled by secret cults. Occultic symbols. etc... ) The original earth for middle earth was flat with an encirircling sea, in the shape of the ALL seeing eye, freeze water and you get ice, so the encircling sea is the icewall. Game of thrones, had an icewall... Middle earth is changed and seas consume most of westren middle earth... It became a planet. Emerald tablets of thoth has a chapter where god changes the earth so that the ocean could consume Atlantis... Tolkien acted as someone who possessed secret knowledge which he used to build his stories. After sauron, humanity inherits middle earth... and this becomes modern civilization... Think about it.

@@MadLFC A policy that high a high probability of never paying out. Legolas could just as likely be killed before his father. In fact being a prince who is constantly leading troops in war and guarding borders etc for eternity.......it's more likely he would be killed first, or at the very least being at war WITH his father would die at the same time. Not many elven realms historically survived the deaths of their kings.

Morgoth. He was the source of evil in Middle Earth. By the time Sauron fell he, himself, was more powerful than Morgoth but that’s only because Morgoth had diminished his own power so much by infusing the greater part of his spirit into the corruption of the entire world. Sauron had the One Ring but, for Morgoth, the entire world was his “Ring”. Which is why, eventually, he will return for the final battle at the end of days. To truly defeat Morgoth forever, you must destroy the world.

I recently discovered your channel and your style of presenting/narrating these videos is really soothing and enjoyable, I really hope you stick with it. I look forward to more content from you soon hopefully! When you think of visually seeing Smaug in The Hobbit films, it is difficult to comprehend just how much bigger Ancalagon would be. More difficult still, to picture it being defeated even though it was. Also, when I think of Morgoth and his trouble with Ungoliant.. It makes me wonder what if Ancalagon were to turn on Morgoth? without an army, could he have defeated it?
@FairlyFictional

Thanks for the comment. I try to keep the narration smooth and not overly conversational sounding. It’s good to get good feedback so I plan to continue. I think Ancalagon may have squashed Morgoth in a 1 on 1 fight. But who knows what tricks he may have had up his sleeve 🤔. Maybe he installed a kill switch just in case when he bred him 😝.

But I have rewatched the movies a million times and that bringing the dead/ghosts there could have a negative effect on the men/horses is something that never crossed my mind. Your voice is perfect for stories. There are so many KZfaqrs who have great stories, but their voices ruin it. Yours fits perfect for lord of the rings. Now I got 2 people to listen to when it comes to this franchise u a nerd of the rings. However, your story is a bit wrong morgoth was never beaten they had to seal him away. Only tom stands a chance against morgoth sauron is nothing to morgoth a bug.

@FairlyFictional yeah it's good. Keep it up. And fair enough, I just love morgoth so much whenever I hear people say he was defeated. I always say hell, nah, he got sealed. that's not the same, haha. But you're right he technically was defeated. I truly believe if Tolkien was alive, he would have bought morgoth back for the grand finally. I just love in the books that all their stories eventually come to an end.
