I had the exact same experience with my fx6, bought it this year thought it would be easy coming from A7s III but it was completely different, couldn't even grade it properly in FCPX because bloody software wasn't reading it as S-Log3...I have spent like 2 days non-stop just to get familiar with it, it made watch 2-hours livestream videos of some old guy explaining how use every bottom and every feature instead of 5-10 min videos that I am used to watch for A7s III

I shoot with an FX6 and GM lenses at 60fps, but CB isn't giving me the option to stabilize. Any idea why? TY.

Well shot and put together. Very helpful. My problem with Catalyst Browse is that it overexposes all the video footage I've tried stabilising. Not sure what is going on. Have followed all the advice and settings to use but it still keeps doing it. Not sure what it going on.

Thanks a lot for your video. I have two questions : you didn’t stabilise it in post production ? (It’s the steady shot system of the cam). Secondly, have A7siii and Fx6 exactly the same results in terms of quality of stabilisation ?

im late to the party, but i love this video! having recently upgraded to the FX6 from the A7S, i feel a lot of this. i am truly loving the FX6 though. i spent the first 2 days with it really trying to learn and figure out the menu, which to me was the hardest part of the camera. there isnt a ton of available resources for it online like there are for Alpha cameras. and when you ask basic questions, people sometimes talk to you like an idiot since this camera is mostly used by more accomplished cam ops and filmmakers. i definitely want to find/build more of a community like us surrounding this system since it truly does make a lot of sense to upgrade to if you have the volume of work for it. i kind of hate relying on youtubers for knowledge about cameras because a lot of them really arent working professionals... theyre ambassadors (nothing wrong with that, but not what im looking for). I have seen a fair amount of these youtubers slamming the FX6 or saying its not an amazing camera simply because its not a great youtube camera like something from the alpha series. but for field work and actual sets? this camera is a dream come true. i appreciate your transparency and hope to see more uploads from you!

Hey brother, how usable is this on a gimbal for hand holding vlog and stuff? I'm using my a7ii but the videos look dated on a 4k screen TV. Thinking of upgrading and not sure if I should get this or an FX3, I truly love electronic ND filter though.

I don't seem to have the option to use the gyro stabilisation when I bring my stuff into CB from my FX-6, I'm using the the Sony FE 24-105mm F4 G OSS that came with my FX-6 not sure if I'm missing something or not. Haven't be able to find much on google about it.

The SmallRig half cage or the Tilta one?
@2010SLP
@2010SLP 3 жыл бұрын
I have had that Smallrig Half Cage for the A7SIII for a few weeks myself. One of the key advantages that you didn’t mention is that the base of the cage is Arca Swiss compatible. So I don’t need to remove the half cage or attach any other mounting plates to easily throw my camera onto my Ronin RSC2. That is a very nice feature IMO. Also, I added a nato rail to the side to quickly add a wooden side handle, which not only adds another easy place to grip the camera, but provides a 2nd cold shoe mount where you can attach your external mic.

Hey Jack, Great video! I’m thinking of getting the Air 2S but not sure due to its lack of variable aperture. I realise it comes with ND filters but how easy is it to judge the exposure of an aerial shot from the ground? Do you find yourself launching it a lot and then having to bring it back down again to change the ND?
@JPWilliamsTV
@JPWilliamsTV 3 жыл бұрын
With the Air 2 I had a pretty good feel for which ND to use just based on the light at ground level, but it's still a bit trial and error with the new sensor on the 2S and I'm still getting used to it. It's hard to tell from the live footage what it's going to be like as well which makes it a bit tougher, don't normally see until editing. As a general rule I use ND4 around golden hour, ND8 when it's cloudy, ND16 on clear days and ND32... well, I haven't yet! Also, sometimes it depends on the shot and angle and how much movement I'm expecting... but yeah, still some trial and error!
