So this pickguard is held down by the potentiometer screws! It is just a prototype so I didn't want to screw anything down.

I just bought my 5th Ormsby this year, also my 5th Ormsby in total. It's a Hype GTI 7. I can't wait to get it. I love all my others. I have a Goliath 7, Headless V 7, Copper Top Hype GTR 7, Demanufacture 7, and now the Hype GTI 7. I can't wait to get it in hand.

I have Two Boden 7 Strings I got this year, I also have gotten 5 Ormsby's. The Ormsby's are all better guitars hands down(well, least 4 out of 5, I haven't played the Hype GTI yet, still waiting for it).

Great job! I am confused as the finish of the guitar looks satin black but Eart only has open pore finish in black of the GW2 available. What's up with that? ;)

Thanks for the great demo. I’ve got an AZ7, but haven’t got exactly what I’m looking for yet in a metal rhythm tone. I’m curious how you feel the Hyperions stand up to something like the DiMarzio Titans or bareknuckles? Loved your Eart upgrade video by the way!
@mattmelodymusicАй бұрын
Thanks so much for the kind words about the Eart demo! I think if your after metal tone its really hard to stack up against the Titans or any Bare knuckle for that matter. These Hyperions are really nice for fusion players (in my opinion) that sometimes push gain. I think they struggle with super heavy distortion and low tunings out of the gate, though with some amp tweaking you can get them to sit quite well. The Titan was great because it had a chimey high end which was what I was after for clean tones. The reason I got the BareKnuckle Coldsweat neck was because I got it for a steal of a price, but still really enjoyed it (Prefer it in the bridge position). Seymour Duncan offers heaps of good pick ups as well ex: sentient, nasgul, black winter, pegasus.. Ive even loved their P-Rails.. If you want to go see a good demo of that pick up go check out any John Browne video with the Forest flamed maple Mayones. Purely speaking Metal Rhythem, my favorite pick up personally is a Lundgren m6. I think if you can find any of the pick ups listed above for a good price i'd pull the trigger on them!

I use my Tele primarily for playing Metal. There's just something special about that bridge pickup and how raunchy it can get for heavy tones. I spent years trying to use a Strat for Metal, but when I picked up a Tele, I immediately realized I had spent over a decade playing the wrong guitar.

Damn bro, I thought you were auditioning for Dallas Winston in a new Outsiders TV show. You probably wont get the reference....lol That blue color is nice, I'm wondering how the tuning will hold up with that headstock design. Also, I'm not big on ceramic bridge pickups.....but I do not play metal, I'm more Ed Van Halen-esque so I stick with SD 78's and Wolfgang's. It looks like you enjoy it, but is it a gigging guitar or just your studio instrument?
@mattmelodymusic2 ай бұрын
I love it! If all else fails I’ll have to audition for an outsiders remake 😂. I really do enjoy the guitar. I think it is versatile with the split coil capability and I’ve gotten great clean tones as well as heavier. I think the headstock guides the strings quite nicely and haven’t had any issues with tuning whatsoever yet! Definitely as studio guitar for me but I have no doubt this thing would hold up great on the road 💪

I jumped on one of the first batches of these. It’s become my favorite guitar. I actually prefer this bridge to all the other Chinese options. I converted mine to a single humbucker sized p90 from arcane, single push/pull knob, killswitch, and put a lp jr pick guard to cover the empty cavity. I put some mammoth slinkies on it and tune to b standard. It’s a great guitar

I really want to get into punk, hard rock, and some metal (heavy/chunky riffs you could say) and am looking for a first guitar. Giving advice to someone who knows nothing about this stuff yet, would you say this would be a good pickup? I’m not sure how flexible individual guitars are, always kinda thought that you could make them sound however you want because they’re modulated digitally, given that you have good hardware at least.
@mattmelodymusic3 ай бұрын
You’re 100% right about making a guitar sound pretty much however you want in post production (for the most part, depending on type of guitar electronics/ pickups you can have different character). For a first guitar I don’t recommend spending more than a few hundred dollars, just to make sure that you don’t over invest into something that you may not persue. With that said. This guitar is a great all rounder. This would be a great guitar for the genres you listed. The most important thing in my opinion about choosing a guitar is how it feels in your hands and how reliable it is as far as staying in tune and having a good set up. Something that makes you want to pick it up and play it again. Obviously watching a KZfaq video won’t satisfy that requirement. However, for the price you’re paying for this guitar, it’s hard to find a better guitar than this (as far as I am concerned). I have purchased two of these and the both came with a perfect set up. I believe anyone would have good luck with this instrument.

@@mattmelodymusic holy shit thank you for such a timely reply on! Especially on an older video. I will definitely consider this one! I honestly just really like the look of these kinds of headless guitars (mostly the "missing" part of the base, I would actually prefer if it had the head but i don’t know if that combination of shapes is common) either way im glad it seems like a good choice on top of the style of it. Thank you!

Nice vid! I got one of these and still trying to find out if lack of sustain is just something I'm experiencing. If I try to sustain a note/bend on the frets, I just don't get much sustain. Do you have this problem? Could it be the stock pickups are bad in this regard?
@fadizanbouah3 ай бұрын
Just realized I asked this before on one of your other videos lol.
@mattmelodymusic3 ай бұрын
Certainly could be the stock pick ups! I know in my case I knew pretty early on that I wanted a different set, so I can't really speak on how much sustain they had. However there's a lot that goes into how to achieve sustain especially with an electric guitar. Every part of your signal chain can affect this. More compression, making sure your input gain is right below clipping, raising the pickups closer to the strings can all give you more sustain. Acoustically speaking I think this guitar rings out quite nicely as far as sustain unplugged (At least the specific guitar I received did). I would experiment with these things first unless you are like me and swap the pick ups out the day after you get the guitar!

For anyone not able to buy new pickups (or not willing to, one simply doesn't pay 1300$/€ for DEAD pickups -not even half that, which I paid for mine-), the BH2s come wired in series, BUT they can sound like a damm normal pickup when you wire them SINGLE COIL. Not parallel, as scoopDEAD as series, just zingier (while still no mids/hi-mids to be heard). Correct color code is in this guy's video... kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h8CVe62nv-CqdXk.html Also the VariMid onboard treats the single coils signal WAY better (no compression/distortion going on, which I was getting, when boosting bass/mids too much with the stock series wiring). Choose whichever coils you prefer for tone. I used the neckside coils of both pickups, which don't even hum cancel with each other when both are on, still have the same (negligible) hum level I had with them in series. This is my EHB1005MS's neck pickup in single coil. I might get better pickups down the road, but this way at least it can sound not far from your average Jazz Bass, I mean, USABLE... kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nLtmrcd-vdOlqo0.html

I had an SR755 that had the Bartolini Mk1's and an SR1306 with the Nordstrand Big Singles and I hands down liked the Bartolini's more. I can see the appeal of the Nordstrand for the average player's tone needs, but I loved the Bartolini's more because they were very tonally flat. This allowed my very diverse playing style and techniques be the element that squeezed out the tone elements. I kind of describe it like the difference between studio monitor speakers and a normal 2.1 home stereo. The studio monitors may sound more flat and boring, but the quality of audio that comes out of them is more consistent and transparently accurate across the board.

I got a Gw2 recently. Do you find that the body is so small that you don’t really have anywhere comfortable to rest your strumming arm? I’m finding to get into a comfortable position with my strumming arm, I have to jam that top “wing” into my inner elbow… almost like my arm is too long to comfortably rest on top of the body. Feels a bit awkward I’m finding. Just a heads up for people with longer arms I guess 🤷♂️
