I bought one of these just for the neck. Then I 3D printed a body and built the guitar I really wanted using the neck. Loads of fun :)

Matt- Thanks for this as I have been stalled on one of my guitar projects involving a custom pickguard. The base of this project is a pristine Shine Scorpion out of Korea that was given to me minus the electronics. Unfortunately the body has seriously beveled edges of varying radius so that it leaves a somewhat unique flat face area with which to work with. After making numerous different templates, none to my satisfaction, the project is currently hanging on the wall waiting for inspiration to strike. Your video was enough motivation to once again pull out the poster board and scissors and have another go at it. Thanks for the much needed kick-in-the ass! PS: Frigging great job on yours!!!

Yes! Budget guitars are such awesome mod platforms! It sounds awesome! By chance, do you know where I could find a good tab/score for the Mestis song you were playing? I think it was Gentle Giant or Mount Plesant. I've looked around and keep finding shoddy tabs that are hard to follow cause of the odd time. 😅

you should taper the sides of the pick guard with a razorblade, scraping it uniformly along the sides. that should help with the jaggedness and give it that extra fit and finish

That pick guard looks class! I have the same guitar and love it. The guitar arrived perfect, the fret work was amazing, totally exceeded my expectations. Personally I don’t feel the need to upgrade anything on it. I like the AlNiCo V pickups. My only complaint is it doesn’t come with the factory gig bag, that has to be bought separately… it’s only $60 but the shipping is $80 on top of that 😢. I am probably gonna buy another GW2 just to have a second one. I own two aluminium neck through guitars from TIDES, a Martin D-18, Gibson J-35, Gibson Firebird V… but all I am playing lately is my EART GW2! (The Keisel Vader looks nice too tho, might order one of those to have a neck through headless guitar)

I put one of those bridges on a Harley benton. Put Duncan distortion mayhem set with better swith and pots. It has stainless frets but they were not done very well. Buy the time i got done i could have just bought a better guitar lol

Great job! I am confused as the finish of the guitar looks satin black but Eart only has open pore finish in black of the GW2 available. What's up with that? ;)

In the neck I put in a Bare Knuckle Cold Sweat and the bridge is a Dimarzio Titan!

Nice vid! I got one of these and still trying to find out if lack of sustain is just something I'm experiencing. If I try to sustain a note/bend on the frets, I just don't get much sustain. Do you have this problem? Could it be the stock pickups are bad in this regard?

Certainly could be the stock pick ups! I know in my case I knew pretty early on that I wanted a different set, so I can't really speak on how much sustain they had. However there's a lot that goes into how to achieve sustain especially with an electric guitar. Every part of your signal chain can affect this. More compression, making sure your input gain is right below clipping, raising the pickups closer to the strings can all give you more sustain. Acoustically speaking I think this guitar rings out quite nicely as far as sustain unplugged (At least the specific guitar I received did). I would experiment with these things first unless you are like me and swap the pick ups out the day after you get the guitar!

so is there anything really holding the pick guard on? I don't see any screws on the left side and i'm guessing the right side is using the volume/tone and switch controls to keep it in place?

Not currently, I have plans to make something with cnc and CAD design so I didn’t want to commit to drilling with something I wasn’t 100% satisfied with.

I have a somewhat mundane question about the finish. I used to own Eart GW2, sold it like a year ago, but I'm itching to get one again. I wasn't the biggest fan of the burled maple top, and I think I'd much prefer this black colour. I suspect it's a fingerprint magnet, but I don't mind that as long, as it's easy to wipe down. Satin finishes can vary in quality, so I'm wondering what your experience has been so far? Any trouble with cleaning the body? Any issues with the finish? Thanks a bunch in advance for the answer.

I totally get that concern! So far, I’ve had no issues cleaning the guitar, the finger prints do come right out. The finish has been solid for me so far, however, I’ve only owned it for about two or so months now, but there’s no signs of wear or anything like that.

How do you like this guitar after some time? I'm thinking of buying either an Eart gw2 or a Harley Benton Fusion-III HH FR Roasted FPU. This will be my only electric guitar. I'm very worried, especially about the sound, because I can't hold it in my hands

I personally would buy the Eart many times over, that being said I have never tried the Harley Benton. I think Eart has something really good for this price range and I would not try my luck elsewhere on something unknown, especially with how consistent Eart products are. Ultimately the decision is up to you, but I can attest that this guitar is something special.
