Anyone else think the first movement was just a touch sluggish?

Not many finales are in 3/4 time signature. But Dvorak shows that it can be done.

Tell me what you hear in the cello in the second measure of the second movement. Curious. The triplet figures in the cello in measure two are different, slightly, ,than in measures 1 and 3 (and the remainder of the movement). Is this a mistake in the score? I believe I hear the same figures in measure 2 and is measure 1 and 3. What do you hear?
@davidyoung63312 ай бұрын
It's got to be a mistake in the score. Watch the cellist in this video. I plays measure 2 just like measure 1 and 3. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a5-ke5Ojm8u6pok.html

The score on youtube here is from the Dover score of the piece. Sometimes Dover scores have mistakes.

A score found on Musopen shows the correct cello part, with measure 2 being the same as measures 1 and 3. The musopen score is obviously taken from the Dover score but makes the correct in measure 2.

I just found out about this composer by reading about him in one of Mozart's letter. What an interesting finding, glad his sonatas are uploaded here. Thank you!

Would like to hear the first movement “over-dotted.” This is, of course, historically supported by Jean-Louis Adam’s treatise, especially in light of the “Grave” tempo marking - a clear indication of French overture style.

Like so many classical editions, the appoggiaturas are turned into inaccurate grace notes, unless you keep in mind that the values of ornaments always come from the following note unless they are liaisons.

Not only does Constance Keene prove her immense worth as a keyboard artist here, but she also demonstrates the great depths Dussek explored in his piano composing.

15:46 this is one of my favourite part of the Dumka piece, where the cello takes over playing the tenor clef part melody like the viola in the beginning, but been played an octave higher. It sounds absolutely out of this world 👏👏👏

I have never understood why is Smetana so underrated as a piano composer, while his operatic works are so commonly praised. The fact is his piano work is just fantastic and cold undoubtedly be compared to any other top world composer of the era.

That fugue in the finale is intense and the dumka is so rich and full of feeling

Especially at the beginning where the viola is heard for the first time, sounds so melancholic and nostalgic through out the melody.😢👏🙏
