I would prefer to clean the tips without removing them. The tip clamps that came on the Touring exhaust on my mustang malfunction when you try to remove them. The threaded bolt locks up and will not turn in either direction. I had to replace 2 on my install.

@awetuning 11 күн бұрын
Are you applying antiseize and using hand tools? Power tools have a chance of cranking them too hard and bending the things. Otherwise, we use TipTonic on our cars with the tips still on all the time. Purely preference. 👍

@awetuning yep hand tools..no anti seize used. That may be the issue..they definitely don't like stress...more of a hose clamp IMO. Thanks for the reply and I love my AWE Touring exhaust!

@@donaldbrown1300 Antiseize is good to prevent gulling of threads/stress from friction. Ensuring theyre placed on the edge of the slotted tip inlets is a good move as well as it allows them to clamp down fully on the "flexible" section of the tip inlet. Glad you're loving the system 👍

I recently got a 2024 45th anniversary Supra and I was considering getting the Armytrix catted downpipe along with this exhaust. Will this fit comfortably with the downpipe? And what is the difference between resonated and non-resonated?
@awetuning
@awetuning 20 күн бұрын
Yes, it is DP friendly -- the Touring Edition was engineered to accommodate them. We recommend going with the resonated variant to help with the heavy dose of nasty frequencies intro'd to the exhaust note when removing the factory emissions equipment, as they help soften the edge and help the tone remain deep vs sounding hallow and unrefined. Resonated vs Non-Resonated is a different of having bullet resonators in the mid pipes.

I have a 2021 330i B46 engine. I see you recc the track edition due to the main cabin sound dampening on a 4-door sedan in the video. My quesion is: if I have a B46 instead of the B48 used in the video, will I get worse drone ? Have you received alot of drone complaints on the G20 330i track edition? TIA
@awetuning
@awetuning 20 күн бұрын
The 46/48's differences lie in the emissions ratings. The output and experience within the cabin will remain the same and our recommendations remains the same -- if you're keeping everything upfront stock, go with the Track Edition.
@nadermansour590
@nadermansour590 20 күн бұрын
@@awetuning I originally ordered the track, but after calling support I was convinced the droning would be annoying for a daily driver and they reccomended I switch to touring - which I did. I really don’t know what the right decision is. I don’t want my exhaust to be super loud at all times so i thought touring would give some more control, since after all this is my daily driver. Getting different reccomendations here vs over the phone. Hopefully the touring isn’t too quiet. don’t know if i made the right choice. I suppose I could call and switch AGAIN lol what do i do
@awetuning
@awetuning 20 күн бұрын
@@nadermansour590 Understood. The Touring is going to be VERY civil within the cabin -- i.e. it's not going to sound much different than stock when on the highway. We recommend the Track Edition with stock DP on the sedan simply because 9 out of 10 folks are looking for a constant volume difference opposed to stock when swapping their exhausts (amongst other factors, of course) -- but boiled down, drivers want to hear it, and hear it more often than with their stock configuration. You'll hear the exhaust more with the Track Edition than the Touring Edition. Given the structure differences amongst the coupe and sedan, we wanted to be fully transparent to properly set expectations of what the experience will be. By your explanation, it's safe to assume you're looking for a soundtrack that is sophisticated a majority of the time but will pipe up when you want to get into the throttle. . . so the Touring Edition will do ya right.

A valve rendered to be pointless in the grand scheme of things. Our Touring Edition essentially achieves the same thing, at a higher frequency than a valved system does (because as you likely know it still opens upon throttle threshold in comfort mode). Drone it killed at highway speed and tone is civil at low throttle when leaving your neighborhood -- i.e. achieving what a valve would do while accommodating a fantastic price point for a full, front-to-back 3" exhaust with included front pipe.

@awetuning 21 күн бұрын
See response to other comment re: the Sport+ debacle, and a valve isn't needed with proper engineering. The Touring Edition renders all of the same effects with driving modes, and it's neighborhood friendly. Your valve still opens in comfort mode upon throttle threshold, and our 180 Tech kills drone on the highway (where a valve would be used most) regardless of throttle input. The Touring Edition is all business with no gimmicks.

Is it valved?
@matrix122187
@matrix122187 21 күн бұрын
It's not valved
@awetuning
@awetuning 21 күн бұрын
Nope, they’re not valved: During R&D, AWE conducted a (quite painstaking) full evaluation of the factory valve and its behavior under various driving conditions to determine its reason for existing. We didn't find any noticeable change in volume between modes during R&D that demanded a valve to be included. It's only closed when in comfort mode, of which still opens upon a throttle threshold. Sport and Sport+ mode renders the valve in the open positions, and Sport+ introduces burbles from the ECU. On the stock configuration, the exhaust is routed through the side mufflers when the valve is closed to mitigate interior volume (i.e. any drone-prone frequencies), and then when it’s open, it’s sent through the center. The benefit of our configurations-the Touring Edition in particular-renders a full, straight-through exhaust path that is sent through our 180 Tech resonator, killing drone while providing max output, regardless of the driving mode, at all times, without sounding like a vacuum. It’s the best of both worlds. Thanks to the design of our 180 Tech resonators, it’s not difficult to creep through a neighborhood without causing a ruckus. Low throttle with our Touring Edition is very civil, minus any gimmicks, just with a deeper note.

Why didn’t you use Sport+? The pops and bangs are what sets the DE5 apart from the FL5 and I’m sure what most owners want to hear.
@awetuning
@awetuning 21 күн бұрын
Thanks for askin'. We attempted to do just that. . . unfortunately the burbles were not consistent on each rev, and after a quick bit of research on the topic of the ITS's fuel mapping/trims and the gremlin CELs/stealth codes that drivers were experiencing with Sport+ and their burbles going away. . .we decided not to irritate the car in the name of a clean sound demo vs forcing it to go into limp mode while out in the field. This ensured a clean comparison between the two exhausts -- Touring & Track -- in the same setting. Since this footage was filmed (early this year) we have had this vehicle back at HQ for intake development. Unsure if the owner took it for a software update of some sort, but it seems to burble consistently (when it's not throwing a fit in sport+ mode while on the dyno). We'll capture the burbles on film for everyone and post a follow up link here as well as our site 👍

@awetuning
@awetuning 21 күн бұрын
@@JosephSheu86 ha, negative. When in dynamic mode the car can sound like it's gurgling water a bit due to the ECU prompts to make it burble. Further, the Touring Edition doesn't have packing material in the 180 Tech resonators in the rear -- i.e. -- nothing to make it quieter or muffle the sound. It's a straight through design and resembles the inside of a Track Edition. Due to those resonators removing the drone-prone frequencies, they have a slightly higher/exotic pitch since it's omitting the nasty base frequencies.
