Thanks Worse part is this anxiety after surgery or so much pain before you realize it is broken that grown inside that almost stops you to move with any crutches for the first time Grat video And Cute plot description, " Ok I go down, turn back and smile" Thanks for the video again 🙂

good to see someone made a video on this subject, a week ago i feel on ice, totaly makeing a mess out if the bones in the right foot, had to have some pins in it, also had to have the bonse manipulated back into place. No standing or putting preasure on it for 12 weeks, not looking for the days ahead 😟. My problem is, i live in a narrow old house with stairs like the slope on a rollercoaster, also im quite a wide lad, i have a litte pancic attack and to add to it, my silly brain wants me to use the wrong legg every time, i have to stand with my crutches for a second just to calculat and remember... right foot sad, dont stand on that.

I had a tibial fracture (or smash-up' may be a better description) 7 months ago with valgus deformity, I have a plate around 6 inches long and 11 screws. Saw a knee specialist today who said the next stage is to remove the metal work and give that up to 6 months to heal, then more surgery to straighten up the leg. It has become more painful in recent weeks and seeing your video makes me feel reassured that removing the metal work will be a step in the right direction. I wasn't too bothered by the metal work but looking into this I think it will be good to get it out. Thank you for sharing this and everyone else with your comments, it's good to know you are not the only one who has not 'magically recovered' after a just a few months like the rest of the world seems to expect us to.

Hi. I am following the same pathway as you. I had my fracture a year ago with a valgus deformity, and am now having the metal work taken out in preparation for a total knee replacement to straighten the leg. I wish us luck. :-)

Hi Jake, I really appreciate you for making this video. I went through the same type of surgery a year ago and now I am thinking of getting the hardware removed in few month. My question is, from your experience after getting the hardware removed how long did it take for you to start walking again, what was the recovery timeline? Thanks

Thanks Jake, really informative to hear from someone with the same challenge! I have had a very similar experience as you. Fractured my tibial plateau in Val Thorens in Dec 18 and have just had the metalwork removed in the U.K. Hoping to press on to near as full a recovery as possible now. Hope you’re doing well also.

Was in a motorcycle accident 18 months ago. My right leg was hit by a car and I recieved a tibial plateau fracture. I have two plates and nine screws, my surgeon said I would never have full range of motion, so I proved him wrong and have 100 percent, and are going in for surgery in 4 weeks to have them removed. This has been the hardest thing I've ever had to endure, Kia kaha to everyone who has been in the same situation

Broken ankle. At the moment I’m crawling up the stairs using my knees and sliding down on my bottom because I broke my dominant leg (right) and so I have a lot of anxiety about falling. Also there’s a ton of steps to get into my house so the first day I accidentally fell onto my injured side and with being in a no weight cast it was agony. I haven’t left the house and that was a few days ago. I get my proper cast at the end of the week so I have to face the steps

Strawberry 1 in that comment i said at the end of the week I’d have a proper cast but when I went back I was told I’d need surgery. I had it on the Monday so I now have a rod and screw in my ankle :( I was in a splint for a while and then the cast and now I’m in a boot and I’m walking for the first time in 8 weeks. It hasn’t been fun. I can now climb stairs but I still can’t go down normally due to anxiety about falling. It’s been hellish and after 2 months it’s still healing and I have to have intense physiotherapy once I can walk without a boot/the aid of my crutches

Thanks a lot for the video I rember seen you the first day at home after surgery.. My accident occurred on september 2018 now after 10 months I am listening careful to your footage because i have the same feelings in regards removing the plate and the 7 screws. I live in london uk i went to see few pricy privet orthopaedics it seam that they love to keep this thing inside. My investigation didn’t stop looking in the uk took me to Genevre but very expensive procedurers over there.. After 10 months still with titanium plate in i can’t run if i try after few metres the pain on the centre part of my tibia starts it’s were the screws are located holding the plate I can squat do yoga swimm but can’t run which annoying me very much i can’t get myself out of trouble if i need because of the metal plate i guess there are no guarantee if i take take it off i will run again but i have a friend that did it and now he is running smoothly. I am really annoyed and kind of getting obsessed with this foreign object inside me i will take it off it’s just matter of time and knowledge i guess once again thank you for sharing I wish you a speedy recovery waiting for your next video regards Sal by the way i am 43 years old

Thank you for this Jake, this is one of very few forums (under your video) where all of us can share our experiences and get advise. Same injury here in October 2017, I got the metal removed exactly after 1 year(2 days ago), still in bed, but feeling relieved. Removal surgery is nothing to compare with the original one.I made it without any painkillers, nothing. I will update in 3 month how the recovery goes. I am not still sure if I can put the whole weight on it already or should I wait? Everybody is saying something else. I d like to be moving as soon as possible but also I do not want to make any harm to the bone...I guess I ll take it slowly and see...Wish all of you soon recovery.

Hi! I broke my tibia july 2017. It was a tibia plateau fracture. I had external fixiater for 10 days then the doctor installed anterior proximal locking plate with nine 3.5 cortex crews and one lagging screw. I recovered to about 80 percent. I was able to even run the last month. The whole past year I was in a lot of pain from hardware and decided that I was going to pursue getting this hardware out. Sep 2018 I had it removed. I am one day post op. The doctor prescribed partial weight bearing for one month so far. What is the typical healing of this procedure? I am in a lot of pain for now with the fresh surgery. thanks for listening.
