Glad to see your garden again lady, I love your peonies, I have 17 peonies since I started seeing your videos, thank you kindly. they have only given me like 2 or 3 flowers but I love them all, some I planted bareroot so am waiting a couple of years for them to bloom.
@smallgarden56822 ай бұрын
I’m happy for you.You just need patience and your peony will give more flowers with each year.I have some bare root too and only green leaves,so I can’t wait to see there first bloom.Maybe next year.

The biggest lavender crape (muskogee) that you planted 7 years ago, how big was it when you bought and planted it in the ground? I just planted a lanky and wimpy one, but I hoping to trim it back next late winter and have it bush out thicker and wider than it is tall after the roots get established. Thanks!

I cut all of my Itoh peonies to the ground and I had at least 25 blooms each. I have listened to several master gardeners who have said to cut to the ground. Those aren't the same buds as the traditional peonies.

The itoh peony shrub gets a nicer form if you cut it down in the fall. I have 52 different itohs in my garden and some of them never make any buds in the old stems.
@smallgarden5682 Жыл бұрын
I do cut just not at the ground level.And all of my Itohs do have buds above the ground.I’m in zone 8a .So our winter is not bad so in the late fall I all ready can see some flower buds for next spring.

Thanks for your sharing, my very first peony to bloom is Karl Rosenfield, the next is Coral Sunset. When planting peonies, we have to be patient because its bareroot needs time to become a shrub. First year I only got 1 little stem, second year they gave me 3 stronger and taller stems with only green leaves, third year I got 3-4 stems with one bloom only. Fourth year, yes it mostly became a shrub and they gave me 3-4 blooms, from year 5 they absolute became a real shrub and you know what? I was rewarded 5 stems, each stem has 2-3 buds. Peonies are long perennial shrub, they can live over 100 years and they give very large blooms. That's why the Chinese people chose peonies as their national flower, a kind of flower symbolizes for longevity and fullness.
@smallgarden5682 Жыл бұрын
Yes all of this is correct.Yes I have peony that blooming before my Coral Sunset.I just don’t know name of it.So you think it’s could be Karl Rosenfield?Thank you.Have a wonderful day
@huytran4787 Жыл бұрын
I think it is Karl Rosenfield peony. In my garden in Massachusetts, this kind of peony is the very first to bloom, and it has slight to moderate fragrance.

Hi, Beautiful ! I am so excited to finally see mine blossom first time since I purchased this Cora Louise in 2020 but I see pale yellow petals, not white. Is it the same case with yours when they are not fully open yet? I hope to see full flowers in a day or two but I am worried if I got a wrong one.
@smallgarden5682 Жыл бұрын
Hi.Yes Cora Louise usually has white with pink petals.Just wait and see what color would be when it will be full open.
