What’s thoughts on commander?
@TheLittleStuff2 күн бұрын
It’s a classic that should have never been discontinued. Unfortunately, sales numbers are the only performance metric that matters. Diversity of design for specific types of fisheries peaked in the mid 2010’s. Since then, many if not most kayak manufacturers have chased some other manufacturers #1 top seller. That created an echo chamber of many 12.5 foot super wide, primary stability kayaks with the seat perpetually in the high position. The Commander 140 was a staple of my summer time river fishing when I started filming kayak fishing. I was a fool to let it go without getting a backup while they were available. But I do have this other boat. And it’s pretty cool too.

Tougher than most, physically and mentally. His number of hours on small water over a lifetime has to be off the charts. That experience is a differentiator.
@garyribet63362 күн бұрын
@TheLittleStuff in my opinion the line up of top river fisherman include but not limited to and in no particular order . Jeff little , Tim Perkins, lance Cooley, Drew Gregory, Mack McCorkle Timmy Dixon Eric Treadway & Kipp Wright folks are regular successful no matter the conditions. And understand fish habits migrations feeding and river flows. Like no other. Some are far more popular than others. Mostly the they are willing to put the effort in to protect the fishery the access and the the fish.
@bigguyinalittleboat79272 күн бұрын
Love the commander, but how he sits on the captain’s perch all day is impressive. It would kill my back. I had a trip a few years ago where it felt there was a tree across the river every 100 yards. Wore my ass out. I’ve never been back. Another great video as usual.

Commanders were great boats. They should have never stopped making them.
@TheLittleStuff2 күн бұрын
There’s opportunity in that statement. The Jackson Kilroy and Native Ultimate are in that same family, but with some critical differences. If someone were to focus on “what can you do with it” as opposed to conforming to todays long list of weight accumulating features, we might get something great again in a “throw and go” kayak again.
@chadharvey2 күн бұрын
@TheLittleStuff Ultimates are great too, and having owned both, the flat end of the commander makes it easier to secure in the bed of a truck. The upper seat was great, the ability to stand with your feet below the waterline was great for stability. Man I wish I hadn't sold the ones I had back in the day.

This new throttle design will be a game changer for fly fishing ! 👍 Any idea about how noisy the new Torqueedo will be? I own a 403, which is great for an overall lightweight system but far to much noisy for power or fly fishing in my opinion. I know the 1103 is far much more silent, how about the new one? And do you know if it will be distributed soon in Europe? Thanks for sharing.
@TheLittleStuff3 күн бұрын
It should be distributed everywhere the 1103 was, including Europe. The new motor is quiet at low speeds, but I can hear it as it approaches top end output.

great content as usual always appreciate all the information. For someone with your vast experience i am planning on getting a new kayak with a new stern mounted torqueedo 1103 travel motor when they become available. My question is which motorized kayak will enable easier upstream access a rotomoulded kayak like the bonafide rvr 119 or an inflatable osprey1436 . wondering if there is much difference I want to do single point access on the susky
