Hey thanks! glad you enjoyed it! i hope it takes off too, but im not trying to rush it... as long as when i proof the video before posting it, i can say "yep- thats better than the last one", ill be happy! A big part of making is constructing a positive space around you where you can look at the things you have done and feel proud about your growth and accomplishment of overcoming challenges you faced. I hope i can bring that mindset more to the forefront in the videos, but thats where my head is at with it... just another skill to try and hone :)

The bit at the end was really funny I just wanna mention that first because that NEEDS to come back 😂I like the idea of a doorbell like that. It seems rather arbitrary that most smart home devices can't just connect locally into a locally hosted network. There are so many places you could take this because it's just a button. 3d print 2 more, use one to play your favourite playlist, the other to turn on your favourite radio show or sports broadcast. Very flexible idea there, though I guess buttons have been around since the beginning of time. I understand your frustrations with the company that owns your apartment building, however I don't think the root cause is what you say it is. Businesses work in a much more complicated manner than things are this way so we will do this thing all the time. More importantly, customers work in a more complicated way than buy thing cause need thing. It sounds like your building has a pretty cruddy solution to a problem that isn't even new. Due to the inconvenience of this, consumers are less likely to choose to stay in that building, meaning that unless the company finds a better solution, they will eventually go out of business. I understand if due to circumstances you cannot move to a building not owned by them, however still you have a choice. The decision was made not to cut costs (because that system actually costs more than what we use here, which I'll touch on in a minute) but apparently because they couldn't think of a better solution. Not late stage capitalism, whatever that is. Here in Edmonton, where I live, only luxury apartments have people at the front desk. This is because well it's frankly not needed and of course it's cheaper, which given housing prices going up as a result of little investment by the government into housing and high taxes on housing, is a positive that's passed onto the consumer, albeit they see that result less and less and prices skyrocket. Despite this, people living in the apartments enjoy security, stability, and especially, no delay in the packages delivered to their door. The apartment has two doors in the front, one of which is always unlocked, the other of which has an electronically controlled lock that under normal operating circumstances, requires electricity flow to open. This entryway is also equipped with a phone. All the phone lines in the building are networked locally to this phone, and you can call a room number from the lobby, who can then press a button on their home phone to buzz open the door for you.

@@LindonSlaght But you just said that the only reason there are good options is because of capitalism? Maybe the only good solution would be cracking down on companies violating privacy laws. But "spoiler alert" fines don't stop big companies from violating any laws, it's just the cost of business for them. That's why capitalism ist bad, bacause in it's true unregualted form, monopolies are an inevitability that crush any chance of competition and in turn make the product worse for the consumer.

CAN YOU HELP ME PLEASE, USING AN OLD XBOX 360 POWER SUPPLY TO CONVERT A 12V CORDLESS DRILL AFTER PLUGGING ALL YELLOW TOGETHER, ALL BLACK TOGETHER AND RED AND BLUE TOGETHER. THEN I PLUG BLACK WIRES TO NEGATIVE OF THE DRILL AND YELLOW WIRES TO THE POSITIVE WHEN TURNED THE DRILL ON IT SPIN FOR A FEW SCONDS AND THE POWER SUPPLY BECAME RED. I UNPLUG IT TO RESET IT, IT KEEP DOING THE SAME THING.
@MethodicalMaker
@MethodicalMaker 5 ай бұрын
The drill is pulling too much current most likely. If you turn the power supply on without starting the drill, does it also trip to red? if so, you wired something wrong and theres a short. If not, then yeah... the drill just pulls too much power. You could try slowly starting the drill instead of going from nothing to full speed, but i assume while drilling metal it would still trip

yeah, i think the 2 mic sounds better too. weirdly, my voice sounded very thin, and almost out of phase between L and R. I assume its because im standing off to the side of the mics, but it made me question the quality of it, even though the bench sounded good. Glad someone else thinks it sounded better so im not questioning it as much haha

This is dope. Inexpensive and a quick build. Might be worth looking into the Zoom F3 if the gain issues become enough of a nuisance. Only accepts XLR but it’s a fairly inexpensive 2-channel 32-bit floating point field recorder which means super easy to increase/decrease the audio gain in post without raising your noise floor
@MethodicalMaker
@MethodicalMaker 5 ай бұрын
yeah, i was looking into a field recorder anyway since i want a way to capture good audio in instances where im not capturing video on a device with audio input. For instance, at the end when i was doing the outro, i was capturing the video on an iphone since my good camera was behind me, And i just had an XLR mic hooked to my PC just out of frame... but i can't always count on my PC with an audio interface to be close by
@nmbr73
@nmbr73 5 ай бұрын
The specs of the F3 look great - 32 bit is sick ... if you need it. I went with an H5: cheaper + it comes with a stereo mic (but for voice / dialog I very much prefer mono) ... if it's only for the stereo and an acceptable quality even an H1 may do - may be better than the Boyas I'd guess.

Cool idea. Mounted a clothes rail from one wall to the other above my desk and attach my camera with a super clamp. All in all the cost was < 20€; it took me 15 minutes to "build" and it works great. In the meantime I got some more clamps to add lights and mics and stuff. This solution is absolutely sufficient for my situation - but yes, not flexible and your solution is by far more "pro" ... thanks for sharing!
@MethodicalMaker
@MethodicalMaker 5 ай бұрын
Yeah, i wanted a platform to build on. This is the initial setup to just be able to record the bench, but in the future i plan on adding a linear rail on the aluminum so I can do panning top down shots :) Using a clothes rail is smart though! its probably way cheaper and easier than trying to use a wood dowel or something from the hardware store

yeah, thats a big challenge... things that are outlandish tend to not be realistic. I posted this on reddit and there was a few comments about how its a pretty weak "slap", but in reality, that is enough to wake me up, and anything more than that would be actually painful if your asleep and unable to put your arm up. It might not make for the best video, but i want to keep a sense of realism to the projects, especially since im making things for me, and not for the video

Having bought the revopoint pop 1 last year, having them come out with the pop 2 a couple of weeks after getting the 1 and then having the scanner be a total shitshow as far as tracking, not liking anything black, and having multiple hours of frustration dealing with the softwares lack of use in fusing images and being total garbage makes me never considering anything revopoint ever again. For what these cost and having seen a review of the the Shining 3D Einstar the other day in which the scan is fantastic without any of the issues during the scan or using the software in which the user start to finish took about 30 minutes to get done compared with the hours of frustration, between these two and the Einstar the clear winner is the Einstar. Why bother wasting money on these which both have issues when you can spend only $200 more and get something that actually does what you want it to?

@MethodicalMaker
@MethodicalMaker Жыл бұрын
These are the only two i have used. The inaccuracies are not consistent, but you can do things like use 3d scanning spray to get the error margin smaller. Also, while both do have their shortcomings, its incredible that 3d scanners are attainable to the hobbyist, as just a handful of years ago, 3d scanning was something you had to DIY, or spend 5000+ usd to get. They aren't perfect, but if you do a lot of 3d modeling / functional 3d printing where you don't have cad files to start from, having an impercise scanner will get the basic geometry captured, and you can re-create the part in cad with a pair of calipers A LOT quicker than doing it from scratch (especially when dealing with compound curves and hard to measure angles)
