1 day without goods and services it is a bbq party. 3 days without goods and services the joy goes away and most people's generators and candles are out. 7 days without goods and services the panic sets in. Desperation starts. 14 + days without goods and services and we're probably in a state of anarchy. And, no matter what your take on firearms is, you should know that there are a lot of them out there. If you don't have one, consider it over for you. Myself? Supply wise, I have two+ months of everything I could need but often subject myself to the question of why have more than that if it madmax life as we will all then know it...

As the head of a large and extended family, I've been keeping a well-stocked pantry for at least a couple of years now. I have 10 people in my home counting myself and I try to maintain stocks that would last at least 6 months. It's not hard, but there are mistakes to avoid. 1. Don't stockpile foods that are not part of your regular diet. Especially avoid those survival buckets people send for. Un an emergency, you're going to be stressed out anyway, don't make it worse by trying to eat stuff you're not used to. Also, if it's part of your regular diet, you only have to make sure you rotate your stocks rather than throwing everything out every five years or so. 2. Stock a few things that are real treats. In an emergency, it's nice to have some pickles or hard candy on hand to break the monotony. And don't forget to store water, medical supplies, cleaning supplies, and of course, toilet tissue. But now a question: What's the shelf life of popcorn? Anyone?

My roommate and I recently hit a rough patch financially, and thankfully, due to years of being poor, I had a lot of food stored up between our canned goods and frozen veggies & bulk meats (cousin is a butcher; he usually gives everyone a bunch of meat [this year beef] for the holidays). We've had to be pretty creative with some of our recipes, but it worked out! Next grocery trip is this weekend; I think I'll be taking this list along with me. Thank you!

Good video, Dale! We are definitely getting closer to something happening. Every day we pull that handle of the slot machine and eventually one day we will hit the jackpot of calamity. The odds of nothing ever happening has never happened throughout history. We should all thank God that we are living in a time of peace and prosperity. Unfortunately, these times create laziness and weakened societies. Take care and Prepare while you can. BTW, nice light in the background.

Buy Vodka in 1/2 pints. I don’t drink but lots of people do and Vodka makes an excellent bartering tool. Also cigarettes keep a long time in the freezer. I would use them to barter as well.

It shouldn't as long as it's stored in a dark(ish) place. A closet or something. Light, temperature, and moisture are the enemies of food storage.

3:00 "Pandemic 2.0"?!? you're being a little too careful with what you say, I don't know what you're talking about. I tried google, and all links are from 2021 talking about the second year of COVID-19. 2:18 "...everyone likes to tell you things are getting better." News sources (and the government) like to point out that things are getting because inflation is dropping. Inflation dropping means things are getting worse at a slower rate, not that they are getting better. Prices will never go back down, and it will take a bit of time for salaries to catch up... if ever.

Inflation has gone down. Which doesn't mean that prices aren't going higher (they ALWAYS will in a healthy economy) it just means that the growth has slowed down considerably. As for government spending, we're nowhere near that being an issue.

Totally agree. Realistically, I have enough "supplies" for a complete loss of services for about two months. Any more prepping beyond that seems a little dubious unless I lived on 40 acres near the woods, which I do not. People that talk about having 100lbs of raw beans and rice have probably not even eaten just beans and rice for a week straight. No thanks.

I have gone to Dollar Tree and gotten a lot of things for my first aid kits and lights out kits, but I'm also getting things from Walmart as they go on sale. I have a few gallons of water and lots of canned food and noodles. Not the best food but at least I'll get through a few days of lock downs. Any ideas on security for an apartment? I can't add anything like cameras, but I do have a nice baseball bat near the door.
@liberatedlady46893 күн бұрын
As a noob apartment dweller myself, I would believe that you can have cameras in your place, think Nanny Cams or Baby Cams, etc. I believe I will be purchasing the door armor and ask my new landlords if they can install it when they put in the new steel doors to our apartments. As for the funk… just keep calling it the El Faucho Funk 2.0. Funny how he’s made our life a living hell and he retired wealthy and we haven’t heard a word from him since. Hopefully, he’s living his best life as a hermit because he knows all too well, if he comes down from his mountain what would happen. Thanks Dale for kicking my booty in gear and keep pressing on.
@jammerwv2 күн бұрын
Can you add cameras inside your apartment or would that violate your lease agreement? You could add some wireless cameras throughout your rooms. Also, things like flashlights, a door brace, door and window alarms, motion lights, pepper spray, and stun batons would help. However, a firearm and training would be highly recommended. You’re doing the right thing by adding food and water supplies, because if you can stay in you’ll be safer then going out during a riot. Get some alternative ways to heat food and water, power electronics, drape your windows with blackout curtains, and a backup heating or a fan for cooling.

I notice that bulk ammo has very little inventory. Maybe 25% of their regular stock is available. Fish antibiotics are basically gone. Walmart, Aldi, Publix and Dollar Tree have a lot of holes and are removing entire aisles. Reports that cyber attacks are happening. We have already seen that here in Tampa Bay.
