Hey, I tried this technique today but I still couldn't tread water, I don't understand what might be the problem, I took a proper diaphragmatic breath and tried the chair drill while leaning back my upper body, and sculling together too, still I sank in the water. I can backfloat easily now but still can't tread water, especially in the deeper end, I get extremely anxious and short of breath in the deepwater but I can easily relax in shallow water which is why I tried this in shallow water only. Are there any other things I should consider? Any more exercises for relaxing better in the water?

Thanks for your comments: 1. How you enter the water - are you 100% relaxed or do you have any fear / anxiety of water / deep water? 2. What enters YOU in the water - How much air do you have in your lungs - MORE is better. 3. Stay relaxed during the movement and ensure your head is positioned back. ---- That is my best advice. Beyond that, I cannot say as I do not see you in the water swimming :). ---- Thank you, Coach Jeff

this isnt really treading water as youre just back floating with sculling hand movements
@caribeswim
@caribeswim 16 күн бұрын
Thank you for your comment - I agree that this is a blend between a completely vertical position and a generic back float. MANY new swimmers believe they MUST be 100% vertical when treading water but that is not true and the act of a new swimmer trying to recreate that definition can make it incredibly intimidating and difficult to accomplish. ---- There is a blend between a professional definition of treading water and a beginners version... I am confident we have found that with this video! ---- Thank you again and let me know how I can support your swimming :) Coach Jeff

Thank you for the comment and welcome to the channel. Relaxation is ALWAYS the best strategy to work WITH the water instead of fighting against it. This takes time and practice to find relaxation. Normally, if your client is not performing a skill correctly, I would have them slow down and practice breathing and relaxing MORE. It is normally LESS about technique and more about psychology. --- Keep Swimming, Coach Jeff Wood
