Wing chun to enter into Aikido technics works well. Both work on similar principles of energiywork. They got similar technics in tenshin aikido (Steven Segal's style).

dont forget that aikido is a gentle blending art rooted in very harsh daito-ryu aikijujutsu. wing chun combined with aikido/daito-ryu ajj is an awesome and powerful approach to self defense.

Lol... If you box a boxer... The better boxer is supposed to win... A boxer's weapons are his punches... Low line kicks, throws, joint locks, chokes, chops, eye jabs etc... Can all be used affectively against a boxer...

Me and a Friend "fight as friends". He is an Wing Tsun (called?) "Sifu", and i have some Aikido Experiance. So if we fight a always say "that is realy hard to fight against you, because if i am not careful engough you get me so fast". BUT i have say that realy same to him. And it was realy Interessting we BOTH take technices from the other to learn from each other. Now i know some WT, and he takes little bit of my aikido. And yes we both say, that helps realy much! What i try to say is.. it is NOT like "aikido is better" or "WT is better", realy not! Its more, the mix of both martial arts make a realy interessting style!!!

Interesting video showing different approaches to the same threat. I only wonder if the aikidoka - which looks not exactly fluid in his movements - knows a bit more than kotegaeshi... (would be nice to see some other technique, that is) I liked it, anyway.
@Octopussyist7 жыл бұрын
You are right, but do you find that the Wing Chun man has more fluidity? I would like to see them make those techniqes work with an "uncooperatife attacker" who retracts his hand immediately, cocking it for the next punch and follows up with a second one. There are ways to make that work in Wing Chun, but it is not the way his footwork goes. And what Aikido is concerned: By punching in a natural way and retracting your hand like a boxer you can fuck up most people's Aikido technique. It is simply not designed for that. It is designed for subduing guys with samurai swords which is also why it is based on the same footwork as ken-jitsu. You cannot strike with a sword and retract quickly. Therefore it is convenient to force him to follow through and use that momentum. That neither works well against a boxer nor a knife-man making several rapid stabs. The socalled sewing-machine.

@ochenhorosho2 ай бұрын

Boxing is a sport and there is no chance of a fight with systems like Wing Chun or Aikido if you hit someone who knows something. At best you will have a broken hand, and you can always have worse. In boxing don` t break hands and do not learn to defend against it so generally better not to try because it may be very bad for you, and the damage to health ...

Great! Thanks, it shows the similarties of different styles, very practical presentation - there may be some different models/styles handling body attack and defence - but the physics behind is the same so also a martial art combat style cannot be cover completely something new - we all have hopefully two arms and two legs; Also I think a Martial art syle nevery deloped in an isolated think-pool but the styles influenced more or less each other - KaREL
