I'm writing this 11min into the video--I couldn't wait any longer. Your editing and writing seem to somehow fall right in line with that industrial design your subject holds. The comprehensiveness and simultaneous brevity of this review are a breath of fresh air; head and shoulders above so many gear videos on YT. ...holy shit, this is worse than I thought. You're just a gear-head. I took a chance and watched this yet again hoping against hope that there was something in all this video and all this talk that was rationally, objectively worth listening to and learning. There is not, at least not in the first half. You complain that your gear is soulless. Literally. You just don't like how it looks and works. My God, man. It's a camera. Not a $8k you. Really $100k you said, considering all the lenses, right? This is not a video about photography. This is a video about being rich and able to afford to buy whatever you want to buy. About buying trophy gear. And shooting it proudly and happily. Just to own it and shoot it. Photography for the Rich and Famous. Sorry, man. There is a clear "class distinction" here between you and me. I am all about the shot. Couldn't give a damm about the gear beyond the fact that I can get the shot that I want with it. The only really relevant thing here is your carrying that camera mounted to that 2-foot lens in the boot of your car. Which looks like some kind of tidiculously-expensive sports car. Driving around taking salon shots of expensive cars in the woods. Which explains a lot. This is about the circles that you want to move in to get the shots that your customers want to be seen in. It's all about justifying spending ridiculous gobs of money to get access to even more money. I was wondering how you were going to work that 100MP camera body into this and now I know. You need to produce a lot of high-resolution prints to even get in the door. Probably need them to be technically flawless. And you need something "better" than "Nikon" or "Canon". Clearly not "Sony" either 😊 And now there are so many 100MP bodies on the market. Where's the gloss in that 😊 Ah, the need to look good...no, to look great 😊 to the point where it permeates every aspect of your life 😊😊😊 I guess that I will just have to be happy with my old beat-up D850 and a 30 year old AF-D 28-80 😊 that's been sitting in a bag unused for most of the past 3 years while I shot my cellphone for YT 😊 This made my whole fucking day, honestly

I think your issue here is that you wanted that gear and you had the financial resources to pay for it but you don't really know how to rationalize paying that much money for it or even just buying it in the first place. Because ultimately photography is all subjective. So you come at the problem from a really stupid and elitist angle which essentially is you saying that most viewers of this video simply are not qualified to judge you. Which is a classic logical fallacy. You are not qualified to judge the people watching this video. You don't even know who they are. You only know who you want them to be. Likewise you know what you want the gear that you have bought to be. Your thinking here is that if you spend enough money and buy enough crap then it certainly has to be what you want it to be which is gear that produces "great photos". But the problem is that "great photos" are entirely subjective. It isn't going to be great because of the camera specs and performance. It's going to be because it's a great scene framed and shot well. Good shots are a mark of photographic talent not photography technology. You can't buy talent. You can only demonstrate a desire to have it. Short of that (and after 40 years of shooting you know where you stand in terms of talent) you are reduced to dazzling people with electromechanical parlor-tricks. You're now The Spec Guy. Why don't you just let your photos do the talking, and stop putting your foot in your mouth?

@@PETERFRITZPHOTO LOL I humbly have to admit that I wrote all that after watching the first minute of your video. I watched half of it and then I understood where you're coming from. This reminds me of the woman who complained that her wedding photographer, a pro who she was paying to take her wedding photos, showed up with an iphone on a selfie-stick. She thought that she was paying for a pro with professional gear and she was not happy. The gear has to look the part, and as long as you have to have a Hasselblad or some other impressive-looking camera...and you can afford it? Then why not get a good one. I get that. But you could have just said that up front :) Beyond that, I'm not the one paying $100k for my gear, that's you. You have to rationalize it, and for some people they will never get it because it's $100k gear and that's all there is to it. But if you can afford it easily, the price is not the issue. When you've owned, shot and made money with better gear than your audience, then you can kinda tell the people who harsh on you for buying $100k worth of camera gear to go eff themselves. I get it. But again, it would have been better to start with that upfront rather than saying that the people watching the video aren't good enough to judge you. It all depends on your viewers :)

@@PETERFRITZPHOTO btw I just wasted two hours taking handheld shots with a $50 D300s and a $100 Tamron 28-300 non-VC that I got off eBay a couple of years ago, just to see what the shots would look like if I actually took them, of a barn, handheld at 450mm effective, 300 yds away, ISO 300-1600. Shooting raw + jpeg and pp in RawTherapee and Gimp in Ubuntu. Just for my own edification. Absolutely otherwise a complete waste of time. I have a D850 and a D750 sitting on the shelf next to it. Just so you know where I stand on the list of viewers of your Hasselblad video :) There's no effing way that I would ever spend that kind of money on a personal camera (not to mention for a camera that big and expensive), but by the same token NOBODY is ever going to buy one of my shots :) I personally enjoy taking bad shots (well, challenging shots) and trying to fix them in post. For a pro it might make perfect sense to buy and carry that camera and the lenses for it. Not for me! So I have to apologize for coming at the question from a perspective that may have little to nothing to do with your perspective. But I *can* ask you this question. Is it REALLY that much better than a D850? Because you can get D850s for under $1500 on eBay now, and they will shoot almost every Nikon FX and DX lens ever made...and those lenses are filling-up camera-stores all over the world :)

You’re 100% correct about how the sound of a car affects your feeling about driving it. I bought a BRZ last year and left it mostly stock for the first year so I could gain an appreciation for the car the way it was originally. I only did a few minor cosmetic things, put the sti v-bars in and a k&n filter. But this year I added a new exhaust before I was going on road trip in the mountains and it was definitely worth it. In stock form these cars are almost completely silent other than the fake piped in sound. Well I disconnected that sound and added the exhaust and it’s so much better now. Now it has more of a performance sports car sound and more of that boxer engine noise. It’s still equal length headers but it does still sound different than a typical inline 4 in my opinion. Next year I’m hoping to add wider wheels and tires because I like a more grippy feel and the stock tires are really skinny.

Using my M Monochrome a lot, but the X2D, with the 35m Lens on mostly for street and so called touristy/location shots, interiors etc, I cannot see myself using anything else at the moment (my medium format prior was my trusted RB67, a tank for still life & food photography at the time) but gosh the X2D is something else! You nailed most of the points, my critique though, getting hold of lenses is a nightmare, mostly on waiting lists, but almost there, service support only if you are lucky to live somewhere where they have such (Singapore a total nightmare) the Covers on the left side, easily to come off (for the charging) flimsy, else it’s a magical tool and am totally happy with the hard ware! After I edited almost 3k iPhone photos, you say the true - 4:34 Photographers recommend 35mm for the start but I think 35mm should be used as ultra wide lens (20mm and less) because it is still wide angle. Ultra wide lens should be used for buildings, swag portraits (from down perspective) or generally putting some swag into the photo. I've seen tones of photos from POV's videos and 85mm looks cinematic, 50mm is a kind of balance but sometimes it doesn't look natural and don't know why. 120mm starts to become more popular lens. I've seen for example on North Borders channel. Most of his photos on last videos are taken by 100mm~ Bigger mm gives a something mysterious, deep effect, you see the one object that is interesting. I never used true camera but I compare it to zoom in iPhones 1x 24mm 2x 48mm (I call it 50mm) 3x 77mm (85mm) 5x 120mm Photographers say" buy a normal camera". They are right but from my 3k photos I can find maybe 200 or more that really looks like they were taken by 5000$ camera. I noticed the only difference between normal camera and iPhone is: - objects has slightly different look on iPhone (48mm) and camera (50mm). - there is a deep effect - more details on people's faces. That's all from me. Amazing video man!
