Great questions! When I set up a bow these days I like to use a longer stabilizer and look down from the top of the bow on the limb bolts and line the arrow up with the stabilizer. This usually gets somewhere close to 3/16 off the riser. This gave me a slight right tear, with less than a quarter turn on the SET tech both top and bottom, we were shooting bullets. The SET tech is great ant the adjustability of the Ethos makes it a great choice for just about every type of shooter.
@madman432000

@@brosbeforebowshunting Nice. I have a Kairos and when I left the shop the SET was maxed because of right tear. Didn't like it so after looking around some I downloaded the tune guide from Elite. They say center shot at 7/8" so I checked mine and it was 13/16. Moved it to 7/8 and recenter the SET adjustment. Had a slight right tear so did 1/4 or 1/2 turn on the set adjustment and it was good. Started dl at 29 and ended at 29.5 so that now is maxed for dl, backed limb bolts out a half turn too. 70lb limbs, if they would have had 65lb in stock would have got that. Definitely a nice shooting bow

That’s awesome! Definitely one of the reasons why I like to do my own setups. The center shot number is definitely not as important as having the arrow leaving the bow straight! Good luck in the woods this season!

What a beautiful place for an archery shoot. Some of those long shots are crazy ridiculous but fun in a way. I did TAC San Antonio a couple years back. Once was enough for me. My 80+ yard shots mostly sucked. All I know is you had better do a LOT of long shots before going to one of these. 👍👍

A notable and IMO significant limitation of the in-line pic style front scope mount is: Unlike Core or Bridge Lock alternatives (which emulate a dovetail mount), you have no control over how far in/out your scope ring sits. (which adversely effects peep alignment and eliminates the possibility of torque tuning) Also there's a significant variance between different PIC mount scope frame lengths/depths. A similar situation also exists with an IMS rest mount. (Although IMS rests are generally very close to the riser which is typically what you want.) Almost all other scope mounts (non picatinny) whether they're dovetail or fixed, you have some control as to how far out you place your scope ring. I've decided to not use the pic rail on my Hoyt Alpha X. (i've got the pic adapter for my B3 sight which is both rugged and incredibly lightweight with the dovetail. So converting it IMO results in taking a step backwards.)
@brosbeforebowshunting
@brosbeforebowshunting 2 ай бұрын
Hey thanks for watching! All great and valid points about the pic mount system. I was just trying to say that for versatility that would be my choice. I have shot the spot Hogg fast eddy direct mount for the past few years and have found that peep and scope alignment with 3/16 peep at my draw length is perfect. Tru ball’s pic version is adjustable in and out and most are at very similar length from the riser. The times that I have torque tuned in the past it always seems to end up the same distance from the riser as the direct mount option anyway. I’m not sure how a pic mount version would actually weigh more than the dovetail direct mount or be a step backwards, but to each his own. Good luck in the woods! Thanks for watching and commenting!!

@@brosbeforebowshunting Pic is lighter for sure, but the B3 frame so late it's insignificant. Thanks for watching! That is a great question, if adjustability is what you want/need the Black 5 is the way to go. The Black 5 is a bit heavier and has more vibration on the shot, but is still every bit as accurate as the revex 6. In addition to adjusting the draw length, with the black 5 you can also adjust the let off, which is something that I would love to have on the revex. We were kinda hoping for the game changers this year, I guess we will have to see what next year brings! Stay tuned, we have some great content coming!

nice vid, yeh bows have certainly plateaued over the last few years i think what most of the companies have done is just given more options and finally some longer ata bows, in saying that ive ordered the bowtech sx80 to replace my revolt x, the specs on the sx80 are exactly what i was after, 34" ATA or more, 31.5" draw and a 80lb option

Try it before thrashing it. 💁‍♂️

Fair enough, we didn’t mean to “thrash” anyone but usually for us trying it is quite an investment. We are several miles from any of the major dealers and truly trying it is more than 2-3 arrows through a whisker biscuit and no sight.

I have a V3 X and have shot the Phase 4 many times at the shop…..you should really shoot the bows before you opine on them. The Phase 4 is a better shooting bow, though not enough to motivate me to upgrade; definitely not a gimmick. Oh, and you can still use whatever stabilizer you want…..now you have another option.
