If the bird is removed from the lifecycle, will it end the cycle altogether?, would they all die out, Starting an aquaponics system and collecting pond water to grow daphnia and other microbes.. which the flukes might get scooped up as well, but if they need the bird gut specially.. or any gut that they end up in?

you should be replacing the line at the beginning of each season, why would you take a chance of losing that once in a life time fish over a few bucks

Hey! Going through the recommendations on this, wanted to get your thoughts. Through gifts, I already own a medium power ugly stik with 15 pound braid on it. Will this still generally work with the lures you recommended? Should I perhaps go a bit bigger? I don't really know what's good for the rod and line I have. Thank you for your time.

A medium power rod with 15lb braid is perfect for most types of fishing and fishing lures. You're off to a great start with that combo.

Just started fishing and wondering what size of hook 🪝 do I need for small fish 🐟 like Bluegills or small size bass? Is size 2 hook 🪝 good?
@FishingwithNat
@FishingwithNat 2 күн бұрын
Size 2 or 4 are good for bluegills. If you go too small, they will suck it down deep and you'll end up having to cut the line or risk severely hurting the fish by trying to get the hook out. For small bass, I'd go a little bigger to a size 1 or 1/0.

I am a beginner and I bought a spinning reel at Walmart for about 25 dollars and every time I casted, the line would get tangled each time which is making me wanna switch to a different type of fishing reel. If someone could let me know if this happens to more expensive ones because I really like the feel of the spinning reel and would like to know.
@FishingwithNat
@FishingwithNat 2 күн бұрын
Did the reel come with line on it? The original line was probably cheap and probably had strong coils in it. I would replace the line - the reel is probably fine. More expensive reels tend to be smoother to reel in and last a lot longer. But your 25-dollar reel is probably just fine if you put better line on it. Try 6-pound monofilament line and I bet you'll have a better experience.

Can you just fill the whole reel with flurocarbon leader line and use that??
@FishingwithNat
@FishingwithNat 2 күн бұрын
You can use a fluorocarbon main line to fill the entire spool but it's very expensive and tends to have a lot of line memory. It likes to jump off of the spool and cause big tangles. You're better off with a braided main line and a short section of fluoro/mono leader.

I'm confused about pencil sinkers. How are they different from cylinder drop shot sinkers? I know that pencil sinkers are longer but is that an advantage over the cylinder sinkers that is used for bass?
@FishingwithNat
@FishingwithNat 2 күн бұрын
A cylindrical drop shot sinker is very similar to a pencil sinker. Usually, a drop shot sinker has a clip at the top that can be repositioned to change the distance from the sinker to the hook. A pencil sinker tends to have a solid ring at the top and is generally used when drifting in current or with the wind. The sinker bounces along the bottom and the bait is held just above the bottom.

How to catch the earth worm easily in ground 🤔
@FishingwithNat
@FishingwithNat 2 күн бұрын
The easiest way is to go out at sunrise after a heavy overnight rain. They will just be crawling around on top of the ground or driveways/walkways. You can also dig them up with a shovel or flip logs/rocks to find them underneath.

What kind of knot do I use for these? Do I need a weight? I'm a beginner!
@FishingwithNat
@FishingwithNat 2 күн бұрын
You generally don't need a weight with these because the jighead provides plenty of weight by itself. You would only add weight if you want to fish really deep but keep a fairly small profile to the bait itself. The knot you tie is more influenced by the type of line you're using. You can tie anything for a jighead and swimbait. Check out this quick video about the types of knots and when to use them kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qMqokpyBnMeXfmQ.html

A swivel usually don't help much. You can use off center head weight to avoid line twist, such as the Mepps Lusox do.
@FishingwithNat
@FishingwithNat 4 күн бұрын
A swivel can help but only if it's a decent quality one. Cheaper swivels will get jammed or rusted and the whole swivel will spin with the lure.

#1 thing about split shot weights. Get the removable shot, its easier to adjust the weights and change out. Especially when using the same line but with different lures & baits. To me, your #1 & #3 are the best methods.
@FishingwithNat
@FishingwithNat 5 күн бұрын
Absolutely. The "non-removable" ones can usually be removed once or twice with a split ring pliers, but they get pretty beat up after that. The removable ones with the wings on the back are much better.
