Can't really compare the two as they are very different styles and both equally well crafted. Personally I'd probably lean towards the Glen Scotia as the price is better and it has a lot more complexity to offer. Hope this helps! 🥃

@@McIntyresMaltsI’ve loved Laphroaig for 40+ years, it looks like they’re trying to “run me off” with the things they’ve been doing lately and to top it off, they send me e-mails bragging about the woke garbage they’re bending over for. I always respond with “shut the hell up and make whisky.” My palate says 10 Batch 15 & 16 are the best whiskies on the planet.

In bourbon there is a thing called the 'Kentucky chew', where you hold the liquid in the mouth and almost move it around like a great piece of steak to get the most out of it. Keen to try this, though it doesn't seem to have made to NZ so far, and I'm sure will be outside of my price range when it gets here. Annoying that it's so expensive when they released 70,000 bottles...! I guess that's fairly standard though. Hopefully Ardnahoe can keep cranking stuff out and the price settles into the realms of reason.

Hi Wade, great review (as always), all the enthusiasm and satisfaction for this tasting shine through your video. I have the opportunity to buy a bottle of Ardnahoe for 80 euros, but I am a little hesitant, since it seems a bit too much to me. I'm critical of the prices of these new bottles after being disappointed by the Second Release of Torabhaig Allt Gleann “The Legacy Series”, paid more than 70 euros What do you think, is Ardnahoe worth the price? Cheers Wade!

@McIntyresMalts 18 күн бұрын
I tell you what, 80 Euros is better than what I paid for it 😅 That's about $135 AUD which I think would be a fair and reasonable price for it. I paid more than what I would have liked to, but wanted to try it and no one else has brought it into Australia yet so we paid a little more than it will likely end up being once it arrives officially. I can't say for sure that it would be a good value purchase for you, but I'd be comfortable paying 80 Euro (based on how much whisky costs us in Australia) and wasn't disappointed with my purchase. Hope this helps!

Not many single malts under $100 in my country, and if you include the unofficial region of the islands that’s six (decent*) single malts for $500 which isn’t possible in Australia… but let me have a crack at at- Speyside - Glen Moray Classic NAS $65 Highlands - Glenmorangie X NAS $69 Islay - Bowmore 9 $80 Lowlands - Auchentoshan 12 $93 Campbeltown - Kilkerran 12 $150 Islands - Talisker 10 $90 $547 was the best I could do with $500 budget, BUT… Me personally I wouldn’t actually recommend buying most of these. Good question and a fun exercise! I would just buy two or three really good whiskeys if I only had $500 to spend rather than one from each region.

@RebMordechaiReviews 22 күн бұрын
Compared to other age statement OB Single Malts within the same price range, like the Tomintoul 10, Speyburn 10, the Glen Moray IMO, comes out on top every time. After a full day of visiting distilleries in Scotland, all you want to do is sit in front of the wood fire stove, relax and drink something pleasant, malty and fruity. Something which you don't have to think about too much and which is cheap as wood chips. I'd also highly recommend the Glen Moray Signature Non-Chill Filtered Classic 48% abv (Travel Retail) which is the Glen Moray Classic with the flavour volume turned up. Give it a few days to settle down after opening and a splash of water, and it will reward you with a lovely malt experience. For an introduction to Speyside Peated whisky, the dirt cheap Glen Moray Classic Peated is soft, malty sweet and earthy. Nothing offensive about this at all. It's just a nice dram at the end of the day. The only Glen Moray which I wouldn't absolutely recommend is the 18 Old. Yes, it's cheaper than most 18 Year Olds, bottled at 47.2% abv, non-chill filtered, but it's got an unpleasant dryness, almost bitter oak about it. I'd recommend instead the Loch Lomond 18, Inchmurrin 18 and Inchmoan 18, all at similar prices to the GM 18. Fantastic value for money and better than some 18 Year Olds at premium prices.
