In a talk about vegetarianism you say that as far as any kind of karmic backlash it makes absolutely no difference what anyone eats because it’s only ones mental state that matters. Now you’re saying that killing ones parent is an automatic ticket to hell. Was the Buddha a completely self contradicting philosophy salesman (yes) or are you (yes)?

I think it's great how you're still fascinated and mystified over the 175 proof whiskey. The bottle is my only vice, hence the username. Can you provide us a Buddhist perspective on crypto/bitcoin? Cryptocurrencies are a new invention, so obviously there are many scams but I do think there is some legitimate use to it. You were probably off the grid during the early days of the internet, but there were many scams back then too; however the basic concepts of the internet prevailed.

Thank you Pannobhasa for once again attending to the fount of endless questions, i.e your audience. It is said in the Dhammapada; “Faint is this fragrance of lavender and sandalwood, but fragrance of the virtuous soars sublime amongst the gods.” I’m sure this is poetic language. But can it also be taken literally- can devas and gods smell virtue, or perhaps see it by other means? It is said that they communicate telepathically, so I guess it’s not too big a stretch. As a side note; I have a theory that since we humans are causing so much deforestation and destruction to natural environments, the spirits who used to live there become homeless and begin wandering about- including inside our towns & cities. I wonder if spirits are influencing people more and more these days because of this. Maybe some of them even try to seek revenge on us for cutting down their beloved ancient tree or whatever. But who knows.

Do you think the buddhist idea of craving, intention and karma is something like a missing link in understanding psychology/sentiant life better? I think its probably already had the most influence on the whole worlds understanding of sentiant beings psychology being that it seems that the buddha was the first psychologist weve ever had.

IMO what the Buddha taught is very simple and has been ravaged by Papanca. Eg Mayahana To me he went to a forest cleared up his life circumstances and turned away from the world. The question is did he really stop rebirth considering we still have desire for warmth and food etc how can one have an emotional clean sheet with lots of past memories?

Upagupta is apparently the name used by Mahayana Buddhists to refer to Moggalliputta Tissa, leader of the 3rd Council. Looks like Mahayana legends not found in the Pali literature.

On Clinton. Remember Clinton had to work w/ a majority republican house & senate which was the first time since the 40s. Newt Gingrich house leader at the time 😮and forced Clinton to make big economic changes during his admin. To Clinton's credit he was a moderate and wise enough to work the Republicans and do what's best for the country. 😊

Right now Christian Nationalism is getting a lot of attention and is gaining in popularity. Even staunch atheists are saying that religion is necessary for most people to behave and so Christianity is necessary to combat our current degenerate culture. Proponents of Christian Nationalism, like Andrew Wilson, regularly argue that we need Christianity to unite and regulate people's behavior and the only reason people don't want it is they want to keep their degeneracy. When I suggest Buddhism instead, I get the predictable ignorant replies. American culture is already hostile to Buddhist practice and values. What do you say to Christian Nationalists or even more reasonable, atheistic people, like my brother, who advocate for this hardline return to Christianity?

When I look around in Germany, the church, whether Catholic or Protestant, has long been infiltrated by the green-left. It interferes in politics and makes voting recommendations against the "Nazis" of the "Alternative for Germany". This party is comparable to Trump in the USA and advocates national interests, against mass immigration and against Islamization. Christianity, this Marxist doctrine of equality, weakens nations. It is trying to do this in Asia too and is rightly being fought against in these countries, especially in Burma and Laos.

Man, that must be one of the most important videos on the channel... In fact, I found this beacon of a channel because I was searching for clear explanations of the difference between Theravada and Mahayana. I seriously think it's the best discussion out there. Reddit was heavily Mahayana-biased and obfuscating objectivity. After 2 years of serious practice and study of Mahayana never hearing about Theravada (I was told Mahayana was taught by the Buddha), and devotion to a Tibetan Rinpoche, the boddhisattva path stopped making sense, but I was emotionally invested into boddhichitta and saving all beings, that I had many doubts of abandoning it... This video was essential for helping me see it in an objective way, and gradually letting go of this voluntary indoctrination of ideas. Now I am able to follow the right path. The censorship must be the actions of a so-called, probably self-proclaimed, boddhisattva, done out of compassion for all sentient beings.

Dear Ven. Pañño, thanks for the Q&A. My questions for this week: Q1) Definition of nonduality Can you please define what is nonduality? What does it mean that reality it nondual? (I think I asked for past Q&A, in a miscellaneous comment section, so it probably got lost...) Q2) The middle way of relationships The most widespread wisdom from elderly normies is that the meaning of life comes from relationships. It seems to be built into the human animal. The buddhist path seems to be the opposite of this, as: relationships = meaning = samsara. Moreover, solitude is necessary to progress in meditation. What role, if any, do relationships play in aspiring towards nibbana? Are they simply sensorial impressions that must be noted, thereby nullifying the karma. If so, ones stance on people in general, becomes one of avoiding. I can't seem to find the "middle way" with relationships. As socializing is implicitly seeking out (dhukka). But if one never seeks out, the result is solitude, which is just fine.

I got hired as a programmer for a slot machine game manufacturer, but on the first day I decided to not do it partly because it didn't feel right to work in a business whose sole purpose is to make you addicted to spending money on false hope. Would it be immoral to directly participate in an industry that is addictive and harmful to many peoples lives?

Question: How can someone who has reached enlightenment and therefore had a direct realization of the nature of reality then go on to make statements that are factually incorrect, scientific, medical, geographical, cosmological etc. In my opinion if you have direct realization of the nature of reality you shouldn't make Scientific mistakes you should know more then the scientist. If you have unlimited sight how could you make geographically incorrect statements. What then is enlightenment if it is not to know factual truths and be free from errors.
