@15:00 you can cut the one can and save the bottom ,you can also crimp the top can and add another can to make a longer container if you have the room to burn it . I wondered if you can make a stove out of the actual containers to hear the house without the added stove surrounding if you can heat the bottom enough to ignite the gases inside these containers

A. Carbonising creates bonds of carbon to carbon and stops carbon leaching into atmosphere. B. Carbon bio char deposits in soil are akin to coral in the ocean ,it's a home to protect and culture biology species, encouraging food web . C. Biochar is not beneficial immediately in soil that is not dense in biology. It is a builder of soil and that takes time. It takes time for two reasons : A. soil pH effects and so biochar must be added in small amounts over time . B. A certain amount must be reached in the soil before it can support enough biology per volume . That takes time due to A. It's a long term procedure .

I have heard that the best coal size is 0-2mm (some US University people said in a terra preta talk). But I am also questioning if charcoal breaks down in earth by itself so that I can spend the labor to grind it down and how long does it take. In my garden the bigger charcoal pieces didnt seem the decompose over three years..

I understand how charcoal/biochar can absorb + hold nutrients but how does it release them to the growing plants?

I hope I didn’t harvest my seeds too soon. Its Only August in my so e 6b garden. We got no asparagus this year because the bed grew wild with poison ivy, thistle, wild roses. Oh my! We owned the property but were not living here till we built a house. Anyway, I’m starting over with these seeds. Wish me luck!!! Thanks so much for sharing your expertise!!!

Hello, I charged my biochar 3 months ago by adding fish emulsion fertilizer, Jobe organic tomato fertilizer and urine in a 5 gal container open lid but it smell so bad. I’m making another batch ,I couldn’t stand the odor so can I just use the Alaskan fish fertilizer and bone meal without urine? Thanks

Great video and have tried this method with very good results. Do you plant out those potatoes in which you potted up in larger pots into beds? Or leave them in there until they die back with yellowish stems?

Thank you so much for this tutorial! I tried it today with my garlic and it looked really pretty, with rosemary. I have a dumb question 😅, how do you take out a garlic? I imagine from the bottom way up with the first garlic of the braid?

Man, that's a lot of BPA released into the atmosphere, maybe you should've researched what's in the cans before doing that.

Perhaps the calcium leaches out of the eggshells before the shells break down. I have used eggshell water, for houseplants, and those houseplants are much stronger, than those who don't get it. I used it on African Violets 1st, and wow what a difference!

Thank you for the video! I have made a similar set up to yours after watching your video with a few exceptions. I bought several whitish clear buckets- i spray painted them black to keep the worms in a darker environment. Next i made the breathing holes on the side just under lid. I keep my worms outside and did not want the worms getting drenched especially during the hurricaine season we have in Texas right now. I wish i had read the one comment on the hot glue because waiting for this caulk to cure is a pain. But not sure it would hold up in Texas heat too well.

Using a blender or food proceser to crunchup the shells will really bugger up the plastic bowel of your machine. Some old style blenders will accept mason jars, glass jars work perfectly.

I clicked on this because your headline said "...in less than a minute!" Blah, blah, blah...make one in less than a minute. Or describe how to do it in less than 1 minute. Build it, fill it, cook it, dump it, put it in the garden or a pot.

I take the outer layer off garlic as I harvest & this seems to make the inner layers dry cleaner & without splits. We're cool temperate climate here in the NW UK, so I put my chosen bulbs in the fridge for 4-6 weeks before planting & this seems to work well. I prefer to plant in my polytunnel, as outside garlic always seems to suffer from rust here. I plant right up near the cover & can fit close to 80 in at 6" spacings (40 on each side) & they don't seem to mind having peppers, aubergines & tomatoes planted further into the bed.

lacking a wood stove, do you think the same pyrolysis can be achieved if i were to put one of these retorts in a weekend fire pit or other smaller campfire size burn? maybe placing it in the center and building the wood around it?

Thank you for your excellent video and comment answers. Does finely ground eggshell powder disappear from the soil surface of my worm bin because of soil acidity, microbiological consumption, or worm consumption ? And why does equally finely ground seashell powder take longer to disappear ? Thank you.
