I played this during Covid so I don’t know how much has been added since, but I missed a bunch of this on my first playthrough of Clear. I didn’t know you could buy property or battle Red’s mom! It’s a top tier ROM hack. Being able to rematch WHOLE GYMS is a perfect solution to Gen 2’s level curve. And it lets us actually use gyms for for their in-story purpose of training.

Pokemon Unbound has more polish and heart than anything The Pokemon Company put out on switch.

Does it hold up? No. The game struggles to recognize inputs. Too many buttons are shared which means you'll do things you don't want to, and island open has a serious difficulty spike. *Get Power Tour.* It's a remake of the gbc version and has the control polish the GBC version does not. I think Mario Tennis GBC sucks. Mario Tennis GBC suffers long term because there's no real power or control behind anything you do. Doesn't matter how you level up. Smashing works when it wants to. Charging power just feels awkward. Pressing select to stop charging was so inconvenient. You have to let go of the D pad to do that! You don't hear about this game because not a lot of people liked it. I started to hate it the longer I played it. Mainly because it feels unfinished and messy. Most of the people who like this game have not sat down and played it in depth. Or, it's just nostalgia talking.

In my opinion the Super Mario All*Stars version is the superior version, followed by the NES original. The GBA version tries to be the Super NES version but fails technically in just about every way possible. Not only are the graphics and sound inferior due to hardware limitations, IMO they have made it even worse by adding annoying voice clips every time you jump. Literally the *only* thing this version has going for it are the e-Reader levels. For those go ahead and fire up the GBA version of the game, but for the main game you're probably better off just sticking to the NES or Super NES version of the game.

All of the amazing things aside, my only concern with this game is how unfinished and scattery the 2nd region feels. The cities and town doesn't have any memorable landscapes or features and that somehow feel rough and empty.

I don't even need to see this to answer that question. Of course it's still worth playing. 😊 Sure, the VA needs work and all that, but the combat system is pretty good. The roster is huge for a pokemon fighting game, and the supers/bursts are amazing too. Of course, there are a couple duds, but all in all, I personally think the game is still worth playing.

i want anything DK related but if it's another 2d platformer and not 3D a very small part of me would be dissapointed

My favorite version is GBA version, once you complete it you get an option to travel to any world and play any level, like in SMW, once you complete all the levels you can move throught the game like in SMW :D

Nintendo hardly ever slightly elevates a franchise. They're an all or nothing company. Huge improvements or mediocre stagnation. Each addition is like an all in game of black jack. Boom or bust.
