I had to reprofile basically all the blades on number except for the straight chisel. That just needed sharpening & stropping. Cuts great now, but the steel is still pretty mid.

The difference between the placing is if the prongs are more inside the lighter is the mark 1 version if their on top then its the mark 2 which Some people prefer using but you can still get the mark 1 as its still made

I like it better but still use the lighter sika 90 on days out. The extra length makes it better for certain tasks, I do a lot of battoning with it. Otherwise the same just bigger and heavier.

Agree with Hobonoa, the minimalistic design is preferable to me as well. The main beauty of this bag is that it is EXTREMELY modifiable. If you want more pockets just buy some more pockets. The customizable factor to this bag is where it really shines. Want a daypack? Just take out the frame and belt and roll/compress it down. Want an overnighter? The standalone bag with frame and Belt is more than enough. On a multiday/week expedition? Attach 3 5L pouches and quickly get up to 75 L. Want quick access pockets? Just buy some pouches to attach pockets on the Belt. The XL size is overkill and unnecessary. If you are a pro backpacker/hiker/outdoorsman/soldier than you know that anything over 80L is excessive. UNLESS you are a paratrooper. Most of us are not paratroopers. (At least I'm not anymore, I used to be.)

Hi, just bought a sika 90 as a present, and thinking of getting one for myself. My wife does not agree though 😁. It is really great like you've said to be able to see the tools in the shop. I am very happy from Decathlon, their tents are with very good quality, easy to pitch, weather resistant. "Resistant gear" is for a reason. Good review, you've got a subscriber, awesome channel. Cheers my friend.

From what I saw in the video, your spirit burner was not on the floor of the stand. If it was put there instead sitting on those small "flaps", your 2 cup boil time would have been about 10 minutes I think. Because of the increased distance from the burner holes to the pot. Less amount of spirit might have help too.. The burner is a Trangia copy. Trangia burners have a wick (cotton I suppose) inside to help starting the spirit gasifying. Of course now there is all sort of junk there from these other fuels or it has been totally ruined ;) Isopropanol then sooted your pot. Gel fuel should not be put inside trangia burner but instead on a low holder disk, thus increasing the flame distance too. Yours probably just then ruined the burner wick. You should also never put any fuel on a trangia burner above the wider diameter cylinder height. I don't know how hot those petroleum/gasoline fuels burn and if put into trangia burner, can it even melt? Same for that aluminium stand. Nice video though :)

I have this exact tool from Lidl, but mine is a bit older, and from what i can tell, the only difference is that yours has those 4 hexagon screws, while mine has rivets, and your handle also has those measures in inches and centimeters, while mine doesn't. But other than that, the tool seems the same. Thanks.

Fair enough. A few points in my defence- I opened it on camera showing I have no long term use. I did show it could barely handle rope, also alluded to it being ordeal to carve with. I was doing an uppity english accent throughout, prepared a scone and stirred tea with it- hardly serious. I also genuinely thought it wasn't on sale anymore- I couldn't find it anywhere. Crucially (something I don't make clear in this video) I didn't know just how bad the edge retention was during filming, only discovering it during later use. However what i did was a bit a prick move. I did not think the video would have any influence, I did it for fun but realise it wasn't very considerate or honest of me. I should have made clearer it was first impressions and that even during filming I was underwhelmed by it's performance. I let my desire to make something funny get ahead of me. Don't feel too bad if you got the knife- It's low cost, looks darn good and I reckon ok for light edc, camping etc. I like it just as a 'collection peice' I'm not even really a collector. I will aim to avoid such a mistake in future. I will private and then maybe edit the offending video. I'm sorry.

What do you mean 'UK legal - for camping/bushcraft/hunting etc - YOU ARE NOT CONFINED TO 3 1/2"?! You can use any size knife, including lock blades, providing it suits the purpose you are using it for. Surely in your context the term is redundant.
@jaysbooshcraft3889
@jaysbooshcraft3889 3 жыл бұрын
They are uk legal style knives/ generally called uk legal knives. I understand what your saying, I think I wasn't clear- focus more on the inexpensive and inoffensive aspect. not everyone is confident carrying fixed blades or it would not be approprate everywhere. Personally i find it handy if i go hiking near some town i also want to visit or just day hikes in general where i might be somewhere busier. Pretty sure I don't mention hunting... if i did then yeh redundant. I don't say 'Knives legal to use for these tasks'- they are UK legal knives and I'm seeing how they fare for what i consider bushcraft/ camping tasks. otherwise good point , cheers.

that spitfire 'ferro rod' is really bad. I don't think I could operate it with cold hands ➡️ I would toss it, it's false security! The rods I got from polymath are much better ... _Anekdote:_ I got a just as bad rod once in a Bear Grylls (don't buy, it _IS_ consistently bad) survival kit. When I tried to use it I had to apply so much pressure to get it to spark that eventually it broke out of the handle & flew away...
@alexandergutfeldt1144

My experience with the spitfire kit doesn't macht yours. I own three by now and paid 12€ + shipping on amazon.de! _But_ ... I threw out the pencil sharpener and the 'pencils/fatwood?' and replaced them with a mini bic and a wax-treated cut to size cotton pad. The ferro rod is 'so-so', not nearly as good as my TBS, but it DOES work. I like the compact size & small carry weight. Cool review!
