I been trying Celtic for some time but was confused in some areas. Your explanations are precise and to the point. Perfectly done thanks. Am clear in the points I was confused. Thanks. Going to watch all your Celtic knots videos. Thanks again, many blessings to you & family.

I wonder if you can make a template with pencil size holes from the dotted paper so you can always start from halfway. Big holes for center dots. I dunno. Very cool video!

I am new to this style of drawing but it is already giving me so much. I have ADHD and my brain is constantly busy. Drawing with precision, but also embracing imperfection, is a wonderful way to calm myself and relax. Thank you for this, I would love to see more of this content.

I will try this model, I think I will be wrong, then wrong again, and at some point it will be successful! The coloring will be with watercolors, it will be the most comfortable moment I guess, thank you. / Je tenterai ce modèle, je pense que je vais me tromper, puis me tromper encore et à un moment ce sera réussi ! La mise en couleur sera avec des aquarelles et ce sera le moment le plus confortable je présume ! merci

Hi Lou! Just starting to experiment with Celtic Knots, your videos are the clearest I have found, thanks! I am wondering if there is a general principle of using a certain number (odd or even, does it matter?) of points in each direction, so that you end up with the right number of overlaps, corners, etc., or is there no "rule" and you can do any number in either direction (e.g. 4 x 4, or 4 x 5, or 4 x 6, or 5 x 5, 5 x 6, 5 x 7 and so on ?) I hope you understand my question! I can do a lot of experimenting to find out but if there is any rule one needs to follow, that's what I would like to know! Thanks so much!
@loudavisdrawing4 ай бұрын
Hi! I think some experimenting is a good idea but I think that you can do any number in any direction as long as what you’re counting (4x5 etc.) is the primary grid (and not the points in the middles of the boxes). I think there is a rule for how many ‘strands’ your knot contains based on how many you start with.

what an amazing video, i have a task ahead of me where i need to draw celtic knots as decorations and i was dreading the task due to the complexity of it all, but this video seems like a really good explanation on how to draw them. my artwork will have curves edges, hopefully I can find a way to curve the reference lattice.
@loudavisdrawing4 ай бұрын
Yes, you can bend the reference grid round a corner - like you do when drawing a celtic knot circle. I hope you have fun!

Hmm triangles. I sometimes Zentangle with non-perfect triangles (different length sides) and find I’m okay with it-haha-as something interesting always seems to develop. My feeling is there, I’ve done it. Next project, please. But I see you, as an artist, like to push the envelope again and again in very small ways to see new results as you ask, why not this, or that? I truly like your pattern videos as they offer new ways to not only do something, but different ways to think about it. Thank you!
@loudavisdrawing5 ай бұрын
I think in other cases I don't mind the non-perfect triangles so much, but didn't like them in this one!

I see you only use one side of the page. i have to start doing that instead of both sides. I ruined a beautiful fuschite and gold mandala by drawing an ink only mandala on the reverse where the heavy black seeped through, even on watercolor paper. Thank you for new ideas.
@loudavisdrawing5 ай бұрын
Yes, I do only use one side - I used to do a lot of colour with promarkers and they always bleed through the paper so just got used to only using one side. A real shame about your artwork :( It's always gutting spoiling something you've made and enjoyed!
