Etsy should be reported, already deducting people's money, but still closing shop accounts, they should be reported

Hi Jess, I have watched many of your videos and they are really informative - one thing I am wondering I have not seen so far is what do you think would happen if I updated my ETSY shop thumbnails? I have started doing this for a shop and it seems my views are dropping rapidly? Would updating be expected to affect search/views? Many thanks.

Thank you very much Jess, it was very insightful. I knew about all of the fees except the 0.32% for the UK (where I am). I have just opened my shop and decided to opt out of offsite ads and not use Etsy ads for now. It's an experiment to see if I'm getting sufficient (or any) traffic and sales through Etsy. If I don't, then I might consider ads, but that would hurt my profit margins, no doubt

hello Jess, thank you for what you do for yourself and the community. May I ask you, if a person opens a shop and adds me as a member, do they have to give me both the password and email of their account so I can log in as normally I would do with my own, or is it that there is some sort of way where they can add me by my Etsy or associated Gmail account? like I will be granted automatic access after they approve me from their side?

My first week off caffeine (3-4 cups a day before), I experienced memory and speech impairment, lack of energy, cravings, depression. Weeks 3 onwards, all of the above started to go away. 4 weeks since quitting …Never felt better.

While watching your video, I looked up items that are selling on Etsy. Everything from Black Adam shoes, a Marvel action figure statue in the original box, Levi's 505 jeans, Liz Claiborne purses, Tommy Hilfiger shirts, all new or a couple of years old. So how is this not took down? It is blatantly obvious. I just don't want to start an account and sell sneakers and jeans to be told i can't because it isn't made by me.
@JessVanDen
@JessVanDen 8 күн бұрын
It hasn't been taken down because Etsy hasn't seen the listing yet for whatever reason. They are dealing with millions of listings, so unless their algorithm catches it, or someone reports it, it stays there.

@@JessVanDen We just opened an account with Etsy. We will see what will work and what won't. I mean from just being on the site I have yet to see anything that is handmade, craft supplies or anything as described as "only sold or purchased" on Etsy.

Thank you for sharing. I like your relaxing sttructure. Do you do your own bookkeeping? That is the part I struggle with. I can't afford to hire anyone right now and I'm still learning. When do you make time to go over your financials, sales projections, etc? And you do you do it together?

My husband took over the bookkeeping a VERY long time ago as part of his role in the business. I check in on our numbers at least monthly, and we make big business financial decisions together.

For me, coffee is my wake up ritual. I almost always make my own at home or in my semi, because uts a LOT cheaper, AND I use much less grinds in it, than anywhere else.

Hi Jess I'm also in Australia and planning to open a store to sell in the US. I notice that etsy has a markup when converting AUD prices to USD for US customers that works out to be more than 5%. Do you know if I can ask to be paid by etsy in USD if my bank account is listed as here in Australia? I thought a Wise/Revolut account could work or maybe a multicurrency bank acount. I'd like to have my store in USD and be paid in USD so that the store prices aren't changing everyday and to avoid the exchange rate markup, thanks
@JessVanDen
@JessVanDen 8 күн бұрын
You can list in USD, but if you're in Australia, you'll get paid in Australian dollars after they do the currency exchange (and you get charged an additional 2.5% on your fees, too).

Also - a lot of baby blankets listed as "homemade" are coming straight from China. Buyer beware. I've seen a few sellers actually list the factory as a partner but most do not.

The "low skill - low will" seller is kind of depressing. I was so excited to start my shop but quickly discovered I was competing against bottom-dollar resellers and stopped listing. I have plenty of skill but it's hard to compete with resellers who claim to be homemade. Glad Etsy is vetting. Maybe I'll start to get traffic and start listing again.

Its terrible how caffeine is promoted especially in children and teens. With sodas, energy drinks and coffee Then they have to take pharmaceuticals for their supposed caffeinated actions and see therapists. Or cant sleep. along with manic emotional issues. Or rapid heart rate issues. And the worst is keeping that addicted mindset for years to come. Just say no and pursue happiness, thats free and you deserve it. Not a trendy drug for profit or illusions of its glamour

The problem is, that they get rid of good people too. Being banned for unexplained "risk factors" right after setting up the shop with only handmade clay figures was an experience that 1. shocked me and 2. - it seems that this happens to many of us, which is even more shocking. I will never buy anything from this company and focusing on share holders is the illness of society IMHO. Robot-service will break down everything, since it just does not solve all issues.

First time on your channel. Never mind your cat, they're pretty much independent anyway. About the new $15.00 fee...? What real business person in their right sane mind would complain about $15.00? First, this miniscule amount is a pittance, especially when compared to starting other businesses or franchises. Second, it's tax deductible. So if you're serious about your shop, STOP WHINING and pay the fee. It's a normal cost of doing business. I don't have a shop here yet but am planning several. Thanks for the vid.

I think it's time handmade sellers abandon Etsy. Etsy has gotten too bloated with resellers and manufacturing companies who can deal with high volume sales at drastically low profit. Sadly Etsy isn't really a place for the handmade makers anymore... and its time it reaps its losses and sink in reputation to that of Ebay or Offer Up... cheap garage sale items for a "deal". lol At this point WE are working to bring traffic! To be charged fees and possibly losing sales to competitors lowballing product price points, hurting our opportunities to make a decent profit. It's better to get own website if we're already working to bring traffic! :) What do you think?
