Isn't stalking illegal? Isn't putting a GPS on your customer's vehicle without their knowledge stalking? Why aren't these business owners going to jail for stalking?

its not Toyota that's doing that, its a dealership level decision to add that crap. I've worked for 2 different dealerships over the years that required us to install that shit on cars. its an add on service for the customer they claim, but its mostly used for dealership security so when criminals steal the car off the lot they know where it is. its SUPPOSED to be disclosed to the consumer when buying the car and that they are given an option to keep or remove, sounds like you got screwed over by your dealer you bought that from, and they didn't say anything about it. unfortunately its not illegal for them to add that when they have possession of the car.

Thanks for posting these videos. I just bought a used GMC Sierra 2020 SLT and after watching your video I went out and found the exact same type of OBD II GPS tracker installed. I’ve taken it out and if they contact me about it, they can have it back but right now it’s sitting on my garage workbench unpowered.

I think they preinstall all the trackers assuming everyone will finance. Then they will try to get you to pay for the lowjack but if you decline, they just leave it there.

I think if you owe them money on it, it makes complete sense they would put a tracker on it. Imagine all the people that try to keep the vehicle but not pay. If I had to guess, id say you signed for it in the teenie tiny writing in the contract😂 I guess it could come in handy if your car gets stolen😂

First, thanks for this informative video. You're wasting your time at the dealership trying to get the truth out of them. Each Toyota dealership is an independent franchise. Don't bother calling Toyota USA either. They'll simply tell you to call the customer resolutions manager at that dealership. Keep up your youtube video and contact national media outlets (CNN, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS, ) and maybe even local stations.

I'm sorry, Who cares? Just take it out and be done with it. Better yet, make them take it out and give you something in writing that there are no more gadgets in your vehicle anymore, so if you find another one somehow, you can run em one. 😉 You don't even have a top tier GR anyway. It is not like you have a $250,000 Lamborghini or whatever that they have to care if you blow up the motor or whatever. I just do not grasp the need of the videos. 🤷

@Anthony Do I hope you sue the pants off of those crooks! I learned with my last car that Toyota seems to equal criminal and am still dealing with issues regarding it and no longer have the car. They were completely dishonest with me from the beginning and because of that, I will never buy another Toyota new or used. I used to sell new KIAs and we didn't use such dishonest tactics. Screw Toyota!

i dont know much but arent trackers placed on cars that still have payments, in case you skimp out on paying then they can be repo'ed? is that not how it works, otherwise the dealership has no reason to be putting a tracker on your car

Did the torque number change? When I did mine his torque figures were 148 ft-lbs on the larger bolt, not 115. The smaller 14mm bolts were still 32 ft-lbs so that was correct. The large bolt joining the 2 pieces was listed as 125 ft-lbs, not 100. You might want to double check and re-torque the large 22mm bolt. I did indeed torque mine to 148 ft-lbs. The guy working on your car needs a longer torque wrench for these higher numbers to get more leverage!

@@jimsgaragetoysNegative. We originally used OEM torque values but had a lot of people struggling with reaching these values without having to purchase a 1/2”-3/4” torque wrench. Decided to lower the torque values and add loctite for V2. 115 ft-lbs with the addition of a lubricant provides the same amount of clamping force as 148ft lbs dry and can be achieved with a 3/8” torque wrench that commonly goes up to 125ft-lbs

Nah, having the option to replace bushings as they wear (they all will) is way better than a solid piece. The Sxth one is decent though, there aren't many complaints in the GRC groups. The Delta X is the gold standard though, right now. GGP is also pretty decent.

After your original video I checked my 2022 Tundra 1794. I did locate the LoJack unit installed in a similar location. I was aware of it the time of purchase. I had the dealer take off the $2,800 in extras which included the LoJack. I updated the owner information with LoJack immediately after purchase. The activation was free for 3 years. At which time I will let it expire. I checked with a few of my dealership tech friends and they said it was not unusual for dealers in high crime areas to install these immediately upon delivery from Toyota. The dealer inspection is not considered complete until it has been installed. Before everybody gets upset, if you have purchased a new vehicle in the past few years, your vehicle is spying on you whether you want it to or not. They all have a built in GPS with telemetry and metadata being sent to the manufacturer and in some cases this data can be used against you when shopping for an insurance policy. There have been a number of law suits filed against GM, Ford, Toyota, and others.

Unfortunately the powers that be want you to own nothing in the future. My guess is one day all vehicles will be leased, not sold, and possibly charged to you by the miles on top of lease.
