Really thorough video. I normally buy a 3-4 yr old car and finance it for 3-4 years, my current one is on pcp. I am thinking about going electric because I can charge for free at work so it makes sense to switch. What are your thoughts on battery degradation effects on future sales/value? The cars I’ve looked at have 30k ish on the clock and are 3-4 years old. 3-4 years driving it will be 7-8 years old with 90k on the clock. I have no knowledge on batteries or ev cars so I’m a little nervous about taking the plunge.

It’s grand as long as it stays at SOH ~90% but problem with EV is when SOH goes down after 1000/2000 charge cycles, it goes off the cliff more like exponentially even though Tesla claim up to 10,000 charge/discharge cycles due to regen! EV’s are not fully there yet even though I drive a LFP SR+!

If half the price I'd have the Nissan... Maybe after the usual EV cliff face depreciation I will have a look..

Useless since the specs are so different... 18 inch, 19 inch and 20 inch wheels... awd vs rwd... 2 electric motors vs 1...useless

I'm joining this comment section a bit late, however I can explain why the BMW and Hyundai's efficiency were quite poor: Wheels sizes. For some reason, in the UK market the Ioniq 6 only comes with the 20" wheels which absolutely destroy its efficiency. Anywhere else, Europe, Asia, N America, you can spec it with the 18" aeros giving you a huge 20-25% boost in range and efficiency. I have no idea why they do this in thebUK, it's a common patrern with many EV manufacturers and it makes no sense. Wrt the i4, you can spec it with the 18" in the UK as well however the test car shown here just so happened to use the 19". With the 18" wheels you would've seen approx. 10% improvement. As a rule of thumb add around 20% for Hyundai and 10% for i4 and you get a more like for like comparison.

Ive got my eye on a model Y and don't do many miles so weighing up whether its much of gamble to get one with high mileage on it (around 40k - 50k)

Electric cars ate disposable. Worth less than 50% after 3 years. Waisting time on charging, and motorway miles are more expensive to run than V8 petrol in UK. To replace battery is right off. Piece of shit, all of them. Resale impossible
@robertsaget9697Күн бұрын
high mileage isnt an issue. thats a distraction from the main issue of battery degradation from TIME. any focus on mileage and not age is dishonest

Hi there I'm thinking of buying a tesla model y, You have mentioned that you have a referral code Where if I use it, you get discounts on certain things and I can get a discount on the car. If that is so and Tesla is still accepting the code. Could you send it to me please. The code please.

There is a difference between being a car driver and driving a car. I’m a huge Car Guy and I really enjoy driving a car. I have several V8 mustangs and it’s many things. Ripping through the gears, feathering the clutch, drifting around a corner and listening to that glorious exhaust note. Driving an electric car for me is like being, the person of honor in a hurst, you might as well be dead. Boring AF. By the way, it’s called smiles per gallon, not miles per gallon. Nobody buys a V-8 sports car for the gas mileage.

Can you pull a highland headlight and see if it will function in the 23 without a custom configuration? Would love to do a front end conversion.

@rsev I run a small car dealership and the tow vehicle is a 4.4 SDV8 Range Rover. Air suspension for towing is the main game changer over anything else on a vehicle. MPG towing is 29mpg (that's about 31mpg empty and 28mpg loaded). 2.7T capacity also. What's your view on a 🌮? It's a shame no EV can be tuned in such a way that they can eek out more mi/kwh and tow greater capacities. For now, internal combustion is still the only viable solution for towing. The other issue... unless it's somewhere like a Gridserve, the number of trailer EV chargers at motorway services in the country can probably be counted on one hand. So, there is no way of charging up en-route either.

Interesting, enjoyable video. Kindly let me point out a slight inaccuracy, namely the *104 mpg* figure, based on *110 p/lt* which is not a realistic average uk petrol price. You stated that you have to average 104 mi/g in a SEAT petrol version, in order to equal the *same running cost* as the winner SEAT ev, namely (34 p/KWh)/(7.1 mi/KWh) = *4.79 p/mi* Therefore, 104 mi/g (uk) --> (1/104) g/mi x 4.546 lt/g x *110 p/lt* = 4.79 p/mi However, the *157 mpg* figure is preferable, because it is based on *165 p/lt* which is a more realistic average uk petrol price of the test period. What do you think?

Why would you even think about a Chapter 11 car? No service, no parts, no warranty and on the top the cars was sold for 1/2 price due the investor in milking the company. An insurance company in the US totaled a car due a dent in the front door -
