Got the chills, man. I love the song, but actually understanding it as being sung (which sadly I cannot, when in Japanese) is such a different experience.

The influence of leftism on this movement is shocking. I think it is difficult to deny that liberalism and the inevitable corporate rule it brings gradually corrupted Japan after the Manchu war and made her vulnerable to the English betrayal and eventual Anglo-American murder. Japan allowed her megacorporations to plunder Korea for fifteen years after her soldiers fought the Manchus to promote their king to imperial rank, and then the Imperial Diet colonized Japan's closest relative five years after 80000 samurai died protecting East Asia against the Russians. After 1921, the Japanese liberal democratic government failed to confront the Anglo-Americans and instead allowed the stranglehold on Japan to continue and tighten. The only thing they managed to do was cut away Manchuria from the ROC and re-enthrone the Manchu Emperor, permanently destroying relations with the Chinese and especially the Chinese leftists. That being said, the policies of the militarists were perhaps even worse. They invaded the ROC in 1937 without any clear plan, completely failed to discipline the soldiers (as Japan had previously done very well), and made exterminating the Chinese Communists a central war aim. They never gave up on this war even after it was clear to be impossible, even with Wang Jingwei on their side. They allowed the Americans to prepare for a genocidal war against Japan for four more years, during which they developed the technologies that shifted the balance (code breakers and radar), and they allowed the Anglo-Americans to attack when they wanted to, which they did in 1941 by crushing the Japanese economy. I think that the coup government should have granted Korea independence immediately, backed the Chinese communists, attacked England's empire immediately, and perhaps attacked the United States immediately as well. However even during the Chinese war there were some offramps. They could have made a deal with Mao Zedong to give him all of the Nanjing government's territory and supplies as well as anything Japan could spare to win the civil war. They could have even done this as an "Emperor intervention" for political reasons. Even if the Pacific War was already on they could have done this. On the Pacific War though, they were probably screwed the matter what given that it began in 1941 with the possible exception of picking more cohesive commanders for the Midway campaign (which Japan should have won). I think that Japan could have repulsed non-nuclear armed Americans from the homeland, especially if they had PLA to help, but it was impossible to win the war at that time. While I think that Japan could have crushed a Pacific War in 1930, it is possible that 1936 was already too late to fight, but it was certainly a better time to fight than 1941. This entire historical is just one of tragedy, but I think that the saddest thing is that the Anglo-Americans would ultimately been defeated in East Asia without the Nuclear Bomb. They probably couldn't have conquered Japan, and instead would have had to settle for a very punitive peace treaty. The Chinese Communists would have won their civil war, and they would go on rebuild the greatest East Asia co-prosperity sphere by opposing any American invasion, such as Korea or Vietnam, in full force, never ceasing to fight until the Anglo-Americans were gone. Japan could have joined a welcoming community of nations and avenged the Pacific War. By the 21st century, East Asia would have been the world's greatest superpower. But all of that is gone because both America and England can destroy the human race in 24 hours from one submarine, and consequently can commit any offence or violation against any other country, including China, by far their superior on the battlefield, and there is nothing anyone can do. Every last Japanese veteran will die never seeing their kingdom liberated, China will endure outrage after outrage, half of the Earth will become uninhabitable, billions of people will be reduced to utter misery, and in all likelihood the nuclear pin holding this vileness up with eventually snap and that will be the end.

I have always wanted to hear an English version of this. Very well done! I have only ever written a few lines myself: Marching in the snow, stepping on the ice: We cannot even tell the river from the road. Our horses are almost dead but we can’t just leave them here, What kind of place is this? The enemies are everywhere.

Now that there’s a new video (granted it came out 3 months ago) I’m confident in subscribing! I have an idea for lyrics in another song, this time the Chinese Dadao song. I think it could be a fun one considering it’d be the first Chinese song you’d cover on the channel! “Snow’s falling, wind’s howling. The blood in my chest burns hot. To who dares invade my home, men will rise in rage with their dadao. No matter if they have planes. No matter if they have tanks. True men will throw their heads to the ground, protect China my compatriots! Waving Dadao, rush forward! Swear your life to kill all the foes! Waving Dadao, rush forward! Return my territory to me! Waving Dadao, rush forward! For mother, homeland and fireside! Waving Dadao, rush forward! Chinese men have dignity of wolves! Dignity of wolves!”
