Plenty to trade with the natives. 😀 You keep saying it's sweet but you keep piling on the sugar, seems the Aftermint insulin is a choice. Condensed milk on the muesli/raspberry bar/chocolate cake, in the coffee and a cup full of M&Ms for lunch! The bread was either for the Vegemite or sopping up the sambal or beef. The crackers were for the cheese, not breakfast. Vegemite is not peanut butter, it is scrapped on very thin on crackers or the bread.
@RationNerd
@RationNerd 7 сағат бұрын
What can I say? If you give me a tube of sweetened condensed, i am putting it on everything I can! It is just too good not to! And, we have cultural differences, like vegemite that I do not know of. That is the fun thing about doing these reviews. I learn a lot and get awesome people telling me about what I did wrong! Also explaining certain items. It is a fun learning experience!
@peterbreis5407
@peterbreis5407 6 сағат бұрын
@@RationNerd I'm not a vegemite guy but as you have discovered it is an intense "umami" flavour and very salty. Like all good things use sparingly. 😄 Very sparingly. Interesting they didn't supply the butter to go with it. You are right we do have culturally different flavours. We like musk, you like fake cherry flavours, Sasparilla and Dr Pepper. I can still remember having to take medicine those flavours when I was young. Makes me retch just thinking about them Interesting that they've changed the Aussie ration packaging, used to be dull and camouflaged, drop it you'd lose. Now they have some bright commercial colours!

Russia treat's their soldiers why better than U.S. treat's theirs with MRNA in their MRE's
@RationNerd
@RationNerd 2 күн бұрын
That is a claim I can neither refute nor confirm. However, I think even the US government is not spending the money to put MRNA in the MRE's. Chemicals, preservatives, and less than edible ingredients, YES! Expensive MRNA gene nonsense....no. But the US can keep a cracker fresh, just sayin!

I am no big fan of US MRE's. And for the most part I really like a lot of the items in Russian rations. Some are like dog food and others are really good. If you check out the reviews I have posted on four or so Russian rations so far, you will see the biggest problems they have are item consistency. That and one of the main sources of the rations caloric content, the crackers, are usually barely edible. I think the Russians have some really good items going on, but have their issues. Other countries get it done way better than the US or Russia. Hell, even Mozambique has a better ration than either the US or RUS.

I guess the accompaniments don't 'match' because these items are generally designed by the British army to be eaten 'on the go' as quick sources of energy/nourishment, rather than as the components of a nice sandwich or picnic spread. The 'face bucket', or 'racing spoon' as it's known in the Brit army, is designed to allow the soldier to eat his meal rapidly and return to his job, i.e. killing baddies, as quickly as possible, something the American fighting teaspoon is definitely not designed for.
@RationNerd
@RationNerd 3 күн бұрын
LOL. You are correct! The American spoon is certainly not designed for scarfing. But hey, American soldiers just chew on the retort pouch like a bulldog while reloading their M4 one handed. The other hand is choking out two bad guys simultaneously...... But seriously. Soldiers do not spend the majority of their enlisted time fighting. There are a lot of other activities that comprise the soldiers life that do not include shooting the bad guys. So eating at speed is not needed. If they needed to eat that fast, all soldiers would just squeeze it right out of the pouch.

that curry is deffo a British ration main, anyone wondering why it has potato in it it's cos some of us eat curry 'half and half' that's one portion of the actual curry served over half each rice and chips (big fat fluffy inside chips) and of course the liquid part of the curry soaks into the chips Yummy
