Hi, are you running with a lead acid battery. How do you manage off grid?
@campervancapers63202 ай бұрын
Hi there. We've always run off two lead acid batteries, and a small solar panel. We know what our capacity is, so we stay within that when we're off grid. We have gas heating, and gas fridge, so our electric needs are minimal. We don't have much tech stuff...so we're not charging loads of stuff, and we don't have stuff like hair dryers etc that eat electric. Biggest tip.... If your using lead acid, make sure they're in good condition/ good batteries. ( They don't last forever! You do need to change them occasionally! 😉) 👍🚐

Great review - thanks. Just found your channel as we're just starting to plan a few weeks with the van in Brittany around mid June/early July. Its our first van trip to Europe so a little nervous and wondering if you pre-book all your sites or if you wing it a bit and do it as you go? Also wondering if you've been there around June and if so what its like for finding sites etc? Enjoying your reviews and vlogs - thanks
@campervancapers63203 ай бұрын
Hey there Griff. Thanks for watching. We pretty much always travel exclusively in June and September....in the off season, and we never book a site. At that time of year, it's very unlucky to not be able to get on a site... And even if you can't, there'll be an alternative within easy distance. In terms of places in Brittany.... hit our playlist tab on our homepage, and it lists all our trips..... with the month/year we made the trip in the description. ....they're pretty much all Brittany as it's our favourite place to visit in France...,.. so lots of campsite reviews/area info to check out!! Enjoy!!👍😊🚐

Hi guys just wanted to ask ,do you find using a acsi card worth it,have heard varied views would like to know your first hand experience regards Dave.
@campervancapers63203 ай бұрын
Hi there. Thanks for watching. We aren't members of any other camping or caravanning club, and the only thing we pay for yearly is the ACSI card. We don't travel in peak season, so the ACSI card is ideal for us. We stay on campsites-, (we're not looking to spend as little money as possible on holiday, as these are our planned holidays- )no aires, or wild camping, so the ACSI card is definitely worth it, as it greatly reduces the rates of pitches on thousands of sites. It's relatively cheap, at @ £25 and it guarantees a certain level of campsite, as the club requires sites to meet certain standards, and most of them do....some even exceed the requirements. There are different levels of pricing, so if you like a basic campsite....or a large commercial campsite, with all the bells and whistles, you can choose your level of price. We have saved from as little as 1euro per night for a pitch, to a stonking 35euros per night per pitch, dependant on where the campsite is. We love it......we wouldn't travel out of season without it.....but bear in mind, we travel for up to six weeks at a time, and can stay at over 30 campsites per trip......that's 30 nights of reduced camping pitches!! It adds up a lot!!! If you're only travelling for a week, and staying at the same site....where you can get a weekly reducyion...for example, then it may not be worth it. It all depends on how you travel. Hope that helps a bit. 👍🚐😊

Hi both. This brings back happy memories of Summer 2019, when we stayed here with my son. It's a nice, clean, mostly quiet site, even in high Summer, in a very civilised part of the world. There were no loud evening events when we stayed, but there is a nice shop for morning pastries and a restaurant with take-away pizza in high season. It's a great base for exploring both Dinan and St Malo. Looking forward to the Dinan video, which is one of Rick Steves favourite towns in Brittany...

Thanks for the info. We are still undecided mainly concerning weight issues but I see these are only 20kg each. Your other half looks about the same size as me - how does he get on with what is really quite a small bike?
@campervancapers63204 ай бұрын
He's 6ft 2 and 15 1/2 stone. The bike manages with him very well, but the battery, obviously, doesn't last as long as mine on a ride, and he's slower going uphill. He looks a bit odd, on such a small bike, but he doesn't care. He has the seat/ handlebars to full height and he toodles along quite comfortably. He's changed the saddle for a larger, more padded one than the one provided. It took some time getting used to the balance on the bike, they're not the most stable, with the small wheels ..but with practice you get used to it
@glyntimmins89294 ай бұрын
That’s really useful - thank you.

The set of vids being posted at the moment, is probably our last vlog. We've loved every minute of our youtube adventure, but we feel it's come to a natural end...slowing down over the last few years, and I feel like I need a bit of a break. As such, we thought it best to remove old/out of date content that we wouldn't be engaging with in the near future. Cheers, Vicky and Mr Grumpy.
