I wonder if the game has a set value for the PP of struggle that doesn't reset from pokecenters and assumes you wont use it more than that many times. Perhaps it just ran out of Permanent PP or PPP, making it impossible to use.

I just wanted to point out that Blizzard isn't a low accuracy move in Gen 1, 120/90 if I recall, so it missing twice was really lucky.

I know this video is 6 years old, but there is another trading solution. If we allow trading, you can also trade yourself a pokemon that knows Strength and Surf, like a Gyarados. In gen 1, you can trade mons that have HMs, which is actually a neat solution to doing things like trying to catch additional zapdos and articunos, since all you need is enough badges to use surf/cut. Cheers Edit: While you mention this later, its not actually required for you to ever get the gold teeth or the HM for Surf/Fly if you do this.

It's a slightly-over-10% chance that a level 100 pokemon completely obeys your command on every attempt. Failing that check, it's slightly-over-35% chance per disobedient action that the pokemon sleeps, lasting 1-4 turns. Then, if it doesn't sleep, there's a slightly-over-70% chance that it uses another move; in this case, of course, that's still explosion. Finally, failing all the previous checks, it does nothing. Being generous and using the assumption that it would sleep 1/3rd of the time you took a turn, and that it slept for four turns each time, there is a 0.000000086% chance of it successfully doing so for long enough to let the weedle struggle to death. One in 80 million. That is the OPTIMAL luck, AFTER fudging the numbers in favor of success. Edit: I was unaware that Struggle only did 25% of the damage dealt as recoil. That means the turn counter would be SIGNIFICANTLY longer, making the final fudge-number come out to 1.9x10^-48, or 1 in 19000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000. Basically impossible.

I'm trying to make sure I comprehend the end game of the solution on this one. Going through the tedious task to get to that pokémon center lets you escape The poison and risk of being warped back to cinnabar Island. However aren't you still left with a pokémon whose only move is explosion so you can never win a match? (Sort of missing every single move from here till the end of the elite four and they all faint due to struggle). Is the answer just that one had to get an HM to get to this point and that executor can learn that? I assume anything obvious like gift pokémon and items on the ground would be out of the equation for this setup. Or maybe the goal was just to show how inconvenienced one could be not necessarily locking them out of the entire game. Thanks for the video!

Uhm there is a way to change the batteries and not deal with the time etc and stuff in the DSL console. It can continue counting but your berries and stuff resets Its in a youtube vid by Yello's island. Yall can look it up

Been watching your megaman serie reviews, And I really enjoy your comments and observations, I just think that most of your issues related to the cheapness of some bosses, repetitiveness, good use of the weapons, lag, etc.. are expected and very fitting for a "modern" gamer eyes, back in the day we have to deal with all that, was part of the "fun", If you believe megaman games are somehow "broken", I wonder what would you think of games like the ninja gaiden nes series, silver surfer, battletoads, castlevania 2, Zelda 2, etc..

I seem to have forever lost my copy of Sonic Chronicles. Not the worst thing to lose, but still kinda sucks. I lent it to someone who was curious about it, who lent me TWEWY in exchange. I didn't really jive with TWEWY and pretty much handed it right back, and then he got married and eventually moved away with my copy of Chronicles. Kind wanted to play it a few months ago in an emulator. Back when it first came out, I played the ROM a little bit and it controlled decently with my Wacom tablet, but something about tablets has changed since 2008, and it didn't control the same this time, plus the battle QTEs were flat-out undoable for whatever reason (not that they weren't a nightmare to perform even on a DS).

I used to have MK2 for Game Boy as a kid and I loved it. Obviously not as good as the console versions and of course the arcade version, but definitely fun for a handheld back then. I also had MK3 Game Boy and that was shite.

And if you can’t (it’s been a LONG time since I’ve played gen 3) couldn’t you just remove the Leftovers and adjust your settings and then save right outside the door? To be fair, duel masters started out as a manga that, at first, promoting magic the gathering in japan at that time. However, the series became it own series when it introduced of the original monsters a couple of chapters later.

After seeing this video, I thought maybe if the opponent's pokemon uses struggle instead if there was a way that would work, since PP works normally in gen 3, and if so would it hit shedinja. Well it does hit shedinja, and it can miss, but I have not found if it does recoil even if it misses. If so then the softlock is able to be broken out of since you will gain PP, slowly, but still.

That's sorta the thing with Pokémon challenges: These games are so overwhelmingly simplistic in their core design, most of the time the solution just ends up being "grind and pray to RNGesus".

Someone needs to invent ebay listings where they sell 'Pokémon bombs' set up this particular way, and the buyer will be refunded 100% if they provide video proof of them beating your challenge. Otherwise you keep the money.
