Hi, I have a question. I have a phd offer with salary and hosting agreement. I believe thats enough for the visa process. Do I need to show recognition of my degrees or grade conversion to german? if yes, how and where can i do that? please advice. thank you

@kartikrai3434 First of all many congratulations. For Visa, you do not need to show grade conversion. If you already have a contract and offer, then it is already proven that your degree is valid.

Hi, could you please help me in this? I have applied for a student visa for a PhD at VFS New Delhi. Now the embassy has asked me for an Hosting Agreement. They haven’t responded yet why have they asked me it for. Since I don’t have any contracts with the university as an assistant or employee (in my case, I am going with my own funds), how can embassy ask me for it? Could you please explain this? ASAP

@LetsLearnEnglish-fk1cy Yes, that is possible. They both would come on a family visa or a family reunion visa. You will come first here since you have an employment contract. Then your husband and child come. Their documentation takes longer. Should not be more than 3 months without unforseen hiccups. The exact documentation list you will find on the official website

@cvsingh6915 yes ofcourse. This is highly encouraged, and the professor would be happy to see that you came up with something on your own. But keep the overall cover letter short. No more than 1.5 page

Hello sir I am a Master's student In my institue various professors are working in different labs on numerous projects and i have approached few of them to involve me in the lab work. So officially i am not part of any project but i am working with phd scholars and learning to handle lab instruments and new techniques. Hi, so you can start preparing when you begin your last semester. During your master thesis work. Try yo find labs and professors that are of interest to you, and that way, you could land a PhD position right after your MSc.

You might be asked by the German universities to take an entrance exam or viva or both in some cases once you get selected as a PhD student. You do not need to do anything yourself.

@Ramyachem depends on your PhD subject matter. If you are from biology background then, the syllabus would be mol bio, cell bio, immunology. But they would give you a detailed syllabus with topics.

It's always better to learn the language. But it's not a barrier. In Ph.D., everyone speaks english, so it would be fine. I also didn't know much German, but I completed my PhD in english.

Hi Durdam. I have heard many people advising against extending a cover letter beyond one page. But I find it nearly impossible to contain a cover letter for a post-doc within one page, especially when I am structuring it with my skills and experiences gathered over PhD, suiting it to the relevant listing for the position. There is just so much to explain. What is your take on it?

Vfs. From the past 5-6 years, everything has moved to VFS. You don't need to go to embassy anymore.

@mahimabora2989 Yes, that is all you would need from their end. You have proof of income and invitation from the university now. This is sufficient for a student or employment visa.

no ideally that should not be the case. the industrial experience is a huge deal maker. lack of publication isn't a deal breaker. you should continue be trying
