Hello Garrett, Sorry to hear about your issues with the 1986 wax packs. I did the same 30+ years ago where I bought one that had not been authenticated/graded(not an option back then). It had been searched/resealed based on the fact the sequencing was off, something I learned later, and I could tell the packs had been resealed with maybe an iron as they were a mess on the back. I'm not sure, even when packs have been graded, that they are 100% untampered with. PSA will probably say they are but I'm not sure how you could prove that. I personally have never had any 1986 packs graded but done 100s of 1988s. Many of my buyers break those packs and I've never had any issues thank goodness. I know there's a lot more to spotting if packs are unopened/unsearched and these could also be signs: *Broken Gum *Creased Wrapper *Bent Pack Corners *Tears In The Pack If any of the folks reading this post could add that would be appreciated. @@tripledoublesportscards5125 ok thanks. But I think I know now how to spot a fake 86 Fleer pack from an authentic one. Last week I bought a completely fresh unopened 91 Fleer NBA box set and I saw how the wrapping in the back looked from the pack. The way it was wrapped was the majority of those packs (36 packs btw). From now on Im gonna go by that assumption to see if I wanna buy another 86 Fleer pack or not.

Hello Mike, Thanks again for reaching out. They were never in a tube as far as I know. Always in a larger top loader(since 1991). As to how to make it flat if was, I'm not sure. Probably put it in a top loader and over time that might do it. Regards, Mitch

Hello Mike, Thanks for watching and your question. It's a really tough one. I've been in touch with some of the most knowledgeable people regarding Star Basketball and specifically uncut sheets in Steve Taft and Bill Shonsheck . I think they'd say it's very hard to say. I do know the condition of mine are better than most and authentic by all I've spoken with. Having said that I have 4 different sheets on eBay and the Nique XRC one at 2000/best offer: www.ebay.com/usr/tripledouble3233. I'd probably price the other one at a similar price. @@tripledoublesportscards5125 It's really tough. I tried to keep the price of the Nique card in mind as being the major draw for the sheet. The tough part is (like you said) it's not easy determining the value, because they aren't available like the individual cards. The demand might not be as high with the general public, because a lot of people like to collect certain players/teams. I think your website price is pretty fair, knowing that there is a limited supply. The video was very interesting to watch. It shed a lot of light on the topic and the original list of pages was really cool!

Thanks as always mk and yes, 88 is a mess! The top to bottom is always off and right to left isn't good either. Out of over 20,000 of them graded only 55 10's. I've probably had 30 graded and not even a 9. 87 is hard too and the prices are very low. Thanks again for your kind words and always looking forward to what you have next!

@@tripledoublesportscards5125 also I just thought of: what about gum placement? Is it random or is it always between cards 1 and 2 or 3 and 4 etc.? You can do the math to determine if Jordan is in your pack (assuming it's unsearched) but what if the gum is near his card? Or close to Larry Bird? If so passing on the pack might be a good idea if the evil gum is near the gold of the pack

I'm not sure of that on the 86-87 but, as I recall, the gum is usually is on the front . Anyone else here know? If it was on the front and you could see Jordan as well, you're right, sounds like a big issue.

Good point Chad! There was a lot said about this box when it got opened a while back but it had three Jordans which is what it should have. There are points where authenticity is important, in my opinion, as there are a lot of folks who do replace high value packs with less value ones. Thanks again for the comment.

Hello @threeg6966, Great question that no one has ever asked and sorry for the delay in responding. They were purchased from 1989-1991. Most as part of sets although a few were singles. I do recall attending the 1991 Annual Collectors Show in Anaheim where there were over 1,000 booths and nearly 100,000 people in attendance. My goal was to acquire the best two, I could find, which I did. Not sure what grades those two got. Are you a Jordan collector? Thanks!
