Perhaps Holly had ben stunting Rimmer's personal growth. After all, he was determined to eb the perfect companion to keep Lister alive... if he grew and changed, that metric would change as well. So, after he leaves Red Dwarf, Rimmer is free to grow into Ace.

Unpopular opinion but I kinda liked the lack of the laugh track I especially wish you could buy a version of the entire series without it I feel like the show is funny enough without it

I don't remember the episode now, but I remember Kryten stating that being a hologram, Rimmer is ranked lower than Lister, and therefore needs to give up his l1f3 for the sake of thr living crew members. Why this was never brought up again is beyond me though

I think we ALL kind of wish series 7 & 8 never happened. It has its moments, but on the whole, I see it as something to just get through when I get the itch every few years to watch them all again from the beginning.

Marooned is easily my number 1 for all the reasons you mentioned. Back to reality, Queeg, Future Echoes, and Thanks for the memory probably make up the other 4. So hard to choose though.

My explanation would be that he has just been taking other guitars from other crew members rooms over the years. He was so worried about his guitar in marooned because that's his own one. Not sure if this idea holds up, I'll have to go rewatch the entire show again to check. Any excuse.

Although Id love to see this, I dont think a TV show will get made. I imagine it will just be a novel. And thats fine by me, I love the books. Prefer them to show in some ways. Would be great if Chris Barrie could do the audio book again, he's the best one at doing them.

I really want Chris Barrie to voice the other Red Dwarf books that he didn’t narrate like Last Human. I really enjoy Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers and Better Than Life, his voice acting is really the best of any narration I’ve heard in audiobooks.

I remember meeting Chris Barrie himself at a Plymouth convention and I got to ask about his experience working on the Red Dwarf audio books, considering how much they carried me through university. He said they were NOT easy, with countless takes having to be done to try and get certain inflections or accents just right, and of course it would wear out his voice a ton after doing so many. But he did still enjoy being able to add his own energy to certain characters that didn’t have real life voices to copy such as the minor characters or his version of Talkie Toaster. So knowing that, he must’ve had an absolute field day with these new audiobooks and I’m hoping he’s rewarded well for his hard work. I can’t wait to check them out!!

I'm really into audiobooks because of the Doctor Who ones from Big Finish, how long are these? And in the audiobook, is it separated into chapters of some sort or is it a whole 8 hour story at once? The story sounds a bit like that movie "65" with Adam Driver
