Ya know, this might be a little silly but Neo Metal should've been the main villain while Eggman stayed Tinkerer. It would make more sense for Neo Metal to release the virus and form a robotic army. He's heartless and cold. He doesn't need to care about the condition of the planet or the people on it plus he wouldn't have to worry about getting infected, in fact he could've used to gain a new form and he wouldn't bring back the Deadly Six because he knows (or should know) that they're tricksters.

For me, J.Axer's guest comics were always a breath of fresh air and comfort during the disastrous and ugly Ron Lim run of Sonic comics. Sadly I lost interest in the comic because of how ridiculous the plot was getting and it didn't help that Ron's art was off putting and terrible.

The reason why Sonic doesn’t kill Eggman isn’t because of Freedom or because he believes he can change on day. It’s because Sonic is a chill dude who normally wouldn’t do something like that. I like idw Sonic and I think he isn’t as bad as some people make him out to be. But they made him way too preachy.Freedom should be something Sonic fights for. Not something he uses as an excuse to force his ideals onto other people.

I believe he would since he has had many examples of killing his enemies... Since Sonic 1. It's just people looks over it, because he isn't blood thirsty enough or shown doing bad things to the villains that deserves ut... When it's not really that. Usually, it's just how he defeats his enemies are the most cartoony ways... If it was real life, they definitely would be dead. Almost like if bowser got chucked in lave... He would die, but that's not the case for the Mario games... The same for Eggman. Also, I think IDW Sonic is much worst than you think since he is pretty preachy where he talks too much even though he say things with good intent, but talks in paragraphs when he just need a couple to a few sentences that's simple to understand, good message to follow, and straight to the point. For example like Sonic and the Secret Rings and Sonic and the Black Knights Last cutscene. If he preaches a little bit, he only does by the end of the games sometimes, but he doesn't do it as much as IDW and he even does it more natural in those games than the IDW Comics... Even though he wants people to be free and he fights for that is true... That's Sonic's character, but how IDW does is not Sonic and shows very surface level understanding of Sonic. He forces his ideals on people because... It's like you can be free and do the things that you want, but only if it goes by his rules is how IDW does it while Sonic in character would just actually allow people to make their own choices, which IDW says they can do, but has a issue for making a choice that he hates even though it's what he wanted in the first place. If Sonic was more in line to his character... He would normally just respect their choices even if he doesn't like their choice... But he wouldn't force them to be what he wants them to be, but if someone does something bad to innocent people and his friends... He will come to defeat you no matter the cost... He wants people to be free and make their own choices, but not the choices that he doesn't like, which constridicts or goes back on what the word "freedom" is. Which isn't Sonic that's the polar opposite of what Sonic is or wants. IDW Sonic just twist what people should already know of the character and only shows surface level ideas of the actually character... Where it's Sonic, but with a twist kinda thing and makes the bad choices that the character makes to appear like good choices that the audience should fall... When it isn't.

The problem I have with Fleetway Sonic isn’t the fact that he’s somewhat of a jerk. It’s the fact that they barely expand upon this part of his character or allow him to develop until the near end of the comic. You can’t just say he has a hard time expressing himself and then only have one story that explores this. And so what if the other characters call him out on his actions, it barely goes anywhere and he barely changes. There’s also his dynamic with Tails. I get that Sonic is only joking, but Tails barely knows that fact and his self confidence is already low. Thankfully, Sonic the comic online fixes most of these issues.

Only reason I’d ever like to see Sonic x come back in any way is to finally got some kind of resolve, or a satisfying ending to the store of tails and cosmo. It definitely ended before it was over and it’s been stuck in the back of my mind since I was a wee lad

The only reason I actually liked the Metal Virus Saga is because I stopped reading it. I watched a dub of the comics that changed tiny bits of the dialogue to make it flow better, the voice actors sold the emotion of each line perfectly and had music that fit the scenes.

The major problem with IDW Sonic other than the characterization of the characters is the lack of World building.

For me the enjoyment of future comics will most likely rely on how much the comics are willing to play with the status quo, my favorite iteration of Sonic being Fleetway's for this reason, to the point it almost comes as a deconstruction. The plot point of badniks turning good gives some good potential for example. Imagine things like badniks being used to remodel the world into a post-scarcity society, ehich would also be kind of a middle finger to Eggman and having him trying to find more inventive ways of causing trouble than just good old supervillainy and you could even take into consideration the Deadly Six being far more dangerous than ever if they keep up with the integration of Badniks into society. And that's just fron a couple of panels of the last arc! Alas that totally depends on how much the mandates are being held up, as well as the writers decision regarding a mass shake up/evolution of the franchise, which admittedly Ian has expressed some interest in, even if the storyline state of the comic is somewhat 'superhero-lite'.

I came here for a review but, it feels like this is too bias to be a constructive criticism. The encounter between Starline and Sonic + Silver was a great way to showcase the character's personalities. Eggman got mad because killing him with a bomb like that is something he can do any day but he wants to beat Sonic his way. His motivations are good and clear, yet you minimize it all, ignored Silver's feat, ignored Dr. Eggman's reply to Starline, ignore Starline's motivations for winning and tactics... The philosophy of Sonic is also clear, freedom is given to all, but he will stop them if they choose to take away the freedom of others. He obviously wanted to save Surge, and gets mat because Surge preferred to die rather than being helped by Sonic. But you made up your mind about that characterization far before talking about issue 50. Sonic's view is flawed as hell, anyone can see that, but tackling by taking the worst interpretation and stripping its context is not the right way to tackle it. There are restrictions to IDW, sure, and it is far from a perfect comic or 'Masterpiece', but this doesn't feel like an impartial review at all.
