If you sew your crotch seam a little lower, you won't get those weird curves from the pleats. I'd probably drop it about 2" down the inner leg seam.

Well you're a heckuva lot of fun. Glad I found this channel. Next time you mess with bleach, you can help prevent some of the behind the scenes damage, by rinsing out the bleach, then dunking it in a bucket of fresh water mixed with a bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide; soak it in the peroxide water bath for ~ 15 minutes then rinse and wash.

I am two years late to this video (at least), but what I think you can do with the stay straps at the back as an alternative is feed the strap down through the stay guard on the same side as the strap and *then* cross them over. That’s what I do with this type of strap that I put on my regency short stays. I can still cross them above the stay guards, much like yours are in this video, or do them the other way and I wonder if women of the era did this exact thing too, depending on the dress/style/outfit they wore?

I keep all the mending projects in my closet. I put a piece of the painters tape on top of a hanger with a note what needs to be fixed but I keep it there cardigan with unraveled seam in between all the other cardigans, skirt that needs button sewn on in between other skirts. I also have one small tote bag hanging on the side for socks etc. When it gets overflowing it kind of takes space and is annoying, and that annoyance helps me find inspiration ;). Having those items on display and wanting to incorporate them into outfits kind of pisses me off after a while and it forces me to mend it. When I had a mending pile it was left untouched for 3 years, lol.

LOL "Your yabos will thank you" ... I bet they also thanked you for the FBA? Mine aren't precisely full, but they wrap around under my armpits so adding an armpit gusset fixes nearly everything for me... Great call on Gaiters, what a great solution when you need something on your legs that you don't wanna pay for and are only gonna wear a couple times. I adore WhatTheForecast. Holy gods I'm happy I live where the air hurts my face half the year. 80f as the nightly low? that's my daily highs for next week (this week's been unseasonably cold, I've had to wear SOCKS and a JACKET). I love how people just freak out about knits. I started most of my sewing on what I'm told was the worst possible one, stretch velvet, and it wasn't as bad as all that! Hell, this summer's project was frigging swimsuits, and I did not have problems because of the fabric, I had problems because all my sewing machines capable of doing stretch stitches were being butts, so I had to grab one that would do zigzag (tagged in the 1960's Universal when the 1980's Singer decided to resume its decades old tantrum about tension and the two Kenmores clutched their pearls and claimed something about timing). She's a good old girl but complains about sewing through elastic. And sometimes tension gets wonky in the middle of a seam. But hey, we made do, and I've got a shoulders-too-wide wearable mockup of my favourite swimsuit and my husband has a wearable mockup AND a final product based on comfy briefs cause he hates swim trunks. Yay for the weird! I think if someone forced me to cosplay a barbie, it'd be Weird Barbie...

Yes! I got the gaiters idea from a friend and it's so practical! And yep--that's our low, and has been and will be for a while. And that's quite mild for us mid-August, usually we're pushing 110 during the days. Weather doesn't usually break and get below 90 until the first week of October 😵

started out in english medieval costume of around the 11th century inspired by the bayeux tapestry. super easy and almost every pattern piece is basic rectangles and triangles and you end up with some very comfortable colourful clothes that you can wear around the house. doing chores and mowing the lawn is 10x more fun when wearing a tunic, braies, and linen cap

I'm starting with the 1890s, mainly because of Bernadette, but I do have a _lot_ of previous sewing experience. I'm also extremely lucky to have been able to draft an 1890s corset and have it fit me first try, so we'll see how that goes.
