yes its not the 90s anymore.. seems like the youg kids are the ones stuck on this.. the old heads are just saying it was better before. thats not a fact and its not false either. ratings have been the lowest in the last 5 years, with 2020 being the LOWEST EVER.. the 90s had the HIGHEST ratings EVER.. the highest period of ratings for the NBA was from 1982 to 2001. since 2001 not ONE year has had higher ratings than the LOWEST YEAR from 1982 to 1 2001.. you guys talk about how good todays NBA is but nobody is watching. you guys just catch the highlights.

To be fair, 01-02 was the last season where the bulk of the playoffs was on network television, and most programs are lucky to be able to replicate the ratings they put up in the 90’s or even 2000’s now with how fractured media consumption tendencies are. Not saying that it automatically makes the current generation better, but if you go off of raw ratings with no adjustments, you’ll sell more recent shows and broadcasts short.

@@fortynights1513 that could be a factor.. but the reality is ppl today don’t care as much back then. Young ppl even say it themselves, the watch the highlights.. it doesn’t prove basketball is better or worse, it only shows that WE loved it MORE than today

@@soramirez5473If you want to go by that, then I could see why you would say a greater share of NBA fans consumed whole games in the 90’s as opposed to now. But part of it might also be the general evolution of the average attention span. If people’s attention spans were as short as they are now in the 1990’s, then more people would probably have watched SportsCenter highlights like people watch KZfaq clips or other social media feeds now. Either way, the way people approach the league has certainly changed.

@@soramirez5473 Two other things: 1. Could it be argued that the talent pool was better in the early 90’s than the mid to late 90’s? And 2. The teams he referred to as good but with inflated records (Sonics, Suns with Barkley, Heat, Spurs, and I’ll throw in the Jazz who are shown at the end of the segment): How good should those teams be considered for what they were, and how many games do you think they could have won in an average league?

@@fortynights1513 that COULD be true, but its all just conjecture. for all the bravado today's youth talks, they dont even care about the game. While "older" fans enjoyed basketball from 1980 to the late 2000s and started to turn away in the modern era. why the sudden hate? young kids have no choice, its all they know

"NBA has 70% ownership of the WNBA." This is the ONLY REASON why the WNBA is still alive today. NBA is losing a lot of money to keep the WNBA business alive despite WNBA being a losing business. 22 years in a row and losing millions each year, and these WNBA players have the audacity to get infront of the national television and complain about not being paid enough. Aren't these ladies thought of basic economy before they get to suit up a jersey and dribble a ball?

Your video is disingenuous…there were only a few teams that played bully ball as you describe! By your logic if all they were all committing flagrant fouls, then there should have been more scoring from fouls shots and shooting technical fouls! The game was more physical and harder to score overall because you took less three and there were more players penetrating to the basket into legit shoot blockers something you don’t have today!

Hmm my only debate is, can you give an mvp for gamesmanship? Because honestly that bothering of the sonics was straight up gamesmanship. The rebounding was pivotal so i cant argue that. Maybe the thing that helped jordan win was, he was the top scorer and he had his struggles, but If the rest of the team wasnt struggling then i could see rodman getting the mvp. The fact they hid rodman off of kemp probably kept rodman from mvp as well. But yes im glad i got to see this perspective. A lot of teams pin pointed on mj. So you have to consider what is going on in the games, but rodman played legendary with those boards.
