Loved the video! Welcome to my home. There is much better gumbo in New Orleans. I would love to see ya'll do the Cajun swamp tour in LaPlace. It's a few miles outside of New Orleans. Looking forward to upcoming videos. Have fun.
@thetravelingstewartsАй бұрын
Ooh thanks so much for the tip! We will look into it. What are your go-to places for gumbo in NOLA?
@user-ut4vl2ps3pАй бұрын
@@thetravelingstewarts The Gumbo Shop is one of my favorites. It's a creole restaurant. If you want to be a little non traditional, I suggest the alligator sausage and seafood gumbo at The Redfish Grill restaurant. Felix's is good as well. I also suggest looking at the coupons in the hotel lobby or really throughout the city. You can get some great deals on restaurants and activities. I'm always looking for a deal😀 Cajun Swamp tour does offer transportation if that is something you might want to try. Try to stay cool. I hope y'all have a great time.

@@user-ut4vl2ps3p Thanks so much! We’ll look into those restaurants. Super helpful tip about coupon books at hotels. We always overlook them but probably shouldn’t; there are probably some good deals in there.

We used the Yellow Pages all of the time! Every home that had a telephone line received a phone book delivered to their home by the phone company. It was very thick and had two sections. The first section was the White Pages. It contained the alphabetical listing of the names, addresses and phone numbers of all of the people who lived in your town. You would refer to this if you wanted to call someone or even find out where they lived! Seems incredible today. Some households didn't like their information being so readily available to the public so they requested an "unlisted number" and they were no longer included in the White Pages. The second section was the Yellow Pages. It had businesses listed in categories; dentists, painting, carpentry, plumbing, etc. Some businesses paid extra to have advertisements to attract attention to their business. As the number of households grew and the advertising increased the two sections were separated into two individual books. Both were used constantly. Thank you for sharing this about the origin of the Yellow Pages!

I've been to Savannah twice and definitely going back. I fell in love with the city. It's hauntingly beautiful. The first time we stayed at the Marshall House. It's wonderful with loads of history. Second time we went more modern with Homewood Suites on the river. Both locations are within walking distance to everything. My favorite locations were Bonaventure Cemetery and Colonial Park Cemetery. The Prohibition Museum is fun and unique. I highly recommend Shannon Scott Tours for those interested.
