Love Arsenio. A considerate interviewer who knew how to match energy.

What always gets me about what Newland says to Ellen in this scene is what a hypocrite he is, because at the beginning of the film, does he not advise Ellen that for the sake of the family, that she remain in a miserable marriage to the count? Then he tells her in this scene that it was Ellen who told him to carry on with a false life married to May. I don’t remember her ever telling him that, but more that she could not see him being cruel toward May by breaking off his engagement. The only time I remember in this movie that Ellen sought out Newland was when he first meets her, she mentions to him that she will expect him at her home which I believe was for legal advice the next afternoon. Other than that, it is Newland who seeks her out, following her to where she went to get away, offering to pick her up at the train station, going to Washington because he knows she’s there. I don’t believe that Ellen chased him - she had feelings for him, but she didn’t seek him out as he did her.

Wish there were more actors like DDL, and more talk-show hosts like Arsenio Hall!!

Now all I can see when I think about DDL is Ebenezer Scrooge and it hasn’t even been made yet😂

A great tribute to Working Class Communities the World over who are almost always ahead of the rest of Society when it comes to not just accepting different but using it as a strength. Huge credit to DDL for his role in highlighting that and his brilliance as an Actor overall

Hall actually let the man speak and carefully listened. The result was a truly interesting and revealing interview. Not typical of most hosts. A shame really.

IMO, it's between Lewis and Oldman. But Daniel Day Lewis absolutely won me when he played Gerry Conlon...."In the Name of the Father". That performance shook me.

I’ve always seen Brian Gumbel as pompous and passive-aggressive in his interviews. DDL’s eyes at the end illustrate just how much he sees right through him.

Film magnifico, attori magnifici, regia magnifica, costumi magnifici!!!
