Great video. Having that problem myself. Removed the smog crap and cleaned the jets and all, prior to cleaning the carb the bike ran great on lower end but at higher speeds just started to cut out but backed the throttle and cranked and it would get past it and run. So basically just pulled apart and cleaned. Will get up and go now. Thanks

This is the best explanation that I’ve seen. But I’m still wondering what keeps the one with the hole in it from turning because I can’t see what the slot in it slides into and why does it go in any way? I have had mine in and out about six times and the engine starts good but seems to run away every time but it will shut off with the fuel shut off

I want to do another video for you guys because I don’t think I can answer your question clearly. The groove of slot on the plunger slides into position in the fuel pump body with a little dowel locator in the body. I will post another video in a few days if you want to hold off for a bit
@jeeper99447 күн бұрын
He explained towards the end where he saw the pin fell out. The small pin aligns with the groove just below it and keeps it in place. Don't tilt the pump and lose that pin or you'll have a bad cylinder. GREAT VIDEO!!! Can't wait for grizzly to do a 4 cylinder with geared rack as well as when the rack is frozen where slide pin doesn't match engine opening. Stuck. There's the side fuel adjust secret 😉

You know I think that same thing sometimes. I’ll get frustrated and something would give me trouble so I take a break, wooo saww, then when I come back I get it right away. It is a mental struggle sometimes. There is a book I have been meaning to read. “Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance” I think it would shine light on this topic.

the service manual from yamaha says turn ccw :| but it's wrong. jumped timing
@grizzlymotomotorsports10294 ай бұрын
Your correct the service manual does say turn CCW and that is wrong. We should always turn our cranks clockwise away from our cam chain tensioner. Unless you have KTM or bmw street bikes have cam in front on RH side or on the opposite side like any dirt-bike and in that case you would turn CCW. Just a reminder because I didn’t say it in the video, we need to leave our tensioner engaged while turning our crank. Only time we remove our tensioner is when we are removing our camshafts.

How many hours are on your Xtrainer? Was a top end job necessary or are you doing it early? What premix ratio are you running? Thanks for posting the vid!
@grizzlymotomotorsports10295 ай бұрын
With no hour counter I can only assume it was close to 100hrs based on the wear on the piston skirt. Based on the performance I couldn’t really tell if it needed to be done or not. I can say if it did run much longer in that condition the cylinder walls would start to except the same wear as the piston skirt. My advice is if it’s questionable then just do it better safe then sorry. You could always start fresh with an hour counter. This bike was running at 40:1. The people at SmartCarb systems said that was rich for the beta Xtrainer and they recommend 60:1. We chose to split the difference and are running 50:1 after the break in period. During the break in we are still running the 40:1 ratio. A compression test could give you a good idea of where your at in piston to cylinder engine life but you will still have good compression as your piston is starting to wear. The objective is for the rings to be the only component taking the wear. Only sure thing if you loose track is to inspect and at that point why not just do it. Thanks for watching my video. I hope I helped answer your questions. Braaap on and safe riding!

Great info and thank you for taking the time to give such a good detailed reply. My 2021 model is fairly new to me so I'm trying to get a feel for what to expect from my bike. Mine has 28 hrs on it. I suppose Beta put the hour meter on these at some point because mine has it built into the dash unit. @@grizzlymotomotorsports1029

Install looks good! Pay attention to that stubby fuel tank vent. If it has a check-ball in it it may be prone to intermittent sticking closed which can hinder fuel flow out of the tank into the carb, just like putting your finger on top of a straw. Recommend avoiding those check-ball tank vents if possible, FYI. Keep us posted about Sunday's ride!
@grizzlymotomotorsports10295 ай бұрын
That’s great advice, good eye! I’ve actually had problems with those also but thought it was a fluke. I will let my customer know and switch the vent to a traditional hose. Thank you to the people at smart carb fuel systems!

You don’t want to turn fuel/air mix screw out more then 3.5 turns. If your engines idle keeps rising and it wants another half turn out you will need a bigger jet on the pilot. So that you can bring the fuel/mix screw into a range of 1-2.5 turns out
