Yes, the ending is dumb. But it’s the culmination of everything Baki and his father are all about. Hanma are like saiyans. They cannot feel complete unless they have truly worthy foes to push them to their utter extremes. Father and son found that in eachother, and only eachother. A connection that transcends everything else in their hearts, even if it only makes sense to THEM while the whole world just thinks they’re insane. Thus; invisible food.

Such an underwhelming ending. Baki was setup to be so much better in the first season (the real first season, not Netflix). It's like they threw all Baki's motivations to defeat Yujiro in the bin, and the anime summed up to be a factory of memes and wacky moments.

I think the writer changed (as in changed as a person) between the time he wrote the first chapter and when he returned to the series after.

@@GeorgeMonet Clearly, but as a storyteller, it should be his responsibility to stay consistent. A good story has a beginning and an ending, and they should always have a connection.

@@MrLoowizBaki grew as a person. Revenge can be let go of. The series showed the gradual change. This was nothing sudden.

@@tek512 If you consider ignoring revenge and fighting your father as a way to seek validation that he didn't get as a child, literally crying and wetting his pants during the fight, and Yujiro having to give him the title of "The strongest creature on Earth" in the most patronizing way possible, a grow in Baki as a person, I guess that makes sense. The only think Baki did that could be considered plausible, given the context of the story, was asking Yujiro why he killed his mom, which Yujiro said "not telling" and Baki was like "k". You wanna see Baki really grow as a person? See him before and after losing to Yuri Chakovsky. He didn't just throw away his motivation, he changed his method. He started seeing things from another perspective. That was never shown in the whole Netflix series arcs.
