I am preparing for the 800 meter qualifying race. I need to swim 800 meters in less than 16 minutes at the olympic pool. Nowadays I'm training in a semi-olympic pool, I can make 8*100 sets in 2 minutes interval. But I don't believe that I'll act same performance in olympic pool. Could you give me some tips,sir? Thank you

Very soon. just 2 weeks. I would increase the swimming volume to 4000 meters per session this week and the next. Make warm-up for 1000 meters and freestyle set for 3000 like 15x200 mode 5.00, 20x150 - mode 3.45, 30x100 - mode 2.30. And the first week of June swim around 3000 meters per session. Warm up around 1200 then freestyle set 8x100 with mode 2.20 and 16x50 in mode 1.15 and cool down for 800-1000 meters for the kicking set. Get 2-3 days for recovery before the race day by swimming around 2500 volume without sets.

@@AllAboutSwimming Thank you sir, for your interests I can only train in morning for one hour a day which is close to my house, its a public pool. Not available for all the time. I have a job also, makes the situation harder. We have also olympic pool in my city. Available for 4 times in a week. I'll go there for trying myself 800 meter. You dont recommend me any drills or technical training, they are all volumeble exercise as I see. Arent them important for now?

If I swim 100 meters in 1:45 minutes, I have only 15 seconds for rest and count. Do I need to swim minimum in 1:40 minutes for having enough time counts and rest?

I would recommend swimming in 2.30 mode in your case! Begin to work on the drills for freestyle by swimming 10x50 in mode - 2.00. Also, you may start to swim kick sets!

I use webbed gloves with the longest Aqua Volo drag sox (60cm) as hard as I can for 25 yds and then let the heart recover. It's massive resistance. I breathe every stroke to get as much air input as possible. It's challenging.

That's right there is no way to lose weight without correct nutrition! You have to create a plan for healthy meals to lose weight. Then begin swimming or learn how to swim.

@@AllAboutSwimming I assume he was talking about a swimming drill that could potentially burn more fat cells but the problem is, even though you dont do anything but eating calories deficit days over days, weeks over weeks will be enough to burn fat cells.

Bhargav, do some other fitness like cycling and walking along with swimming. I always gain 15 pounds in Winter and must lose it every year. Keep protein high and have carbs a few hours prior to exercise for energy. I start losing by eating mainly vegetables and fish. Be patient. Losing weight is very hard.

Why bother using the buoy if you are kicking anyways?
@AllAboutSwimming2 ай бұрын
Buoy helps to raise hips and keep the lower body higher on the surface. To swim without kicking you need to tie up your legs but it is already another specific task and for the advanced level. The current set is provided to improve breathing and how to control it. P.S. Keep swimming and thank you for your question!😊

Interesting ! What's the purpose of it ?
@AllAboutSwimming3 ай бұрын
Thank you for your question! The main purpose of practicing drills in swimming is to feel the water differently. While swimming this drill you may increase the pace of your arms for breaststroke since the dolphin kick is faster in comparison with the breaststroke kick. The second benefit is to work on the upper body, while making the wave with the body is easier to go a little bit higher from the water and throw the arms forward, after mastering this skill you may be able to transfer that feeling in a breaststroke swimming in full coordination.
