John, thank you so much for all the wonderful music you've created over the past 47 years, since I first heard you. My daughter, a classical bassoonist, because of my love of your music, inspired her career and it means so much to me that she fell in love with your music. It shows the staying power of your imagination and your craft. God bless you sir, a friend from Texas.

I love listening to John Foxx talking about eletronic evolution and sound mashines revolutionised the entire world, but he never mentioned a single word about David Bowie how creative he was by representing electronial music in early seventes, in cooparation with Brian Eno. The important albems from David Bowie: " Low and Hero" had a great impact on his admirers all around the world.

The Chorley Genius.. Was Miles Away and was Touch n Go whether I'd escape the Tidal Wave while hiding in the Underpass , but a Burning Car was in my way , though No One Driving it, I then bumped into a Army chap called Lieutenant O30, and a Blurred Girl who had a Metal Beat and said He's a Liquid, eventually I did escape to The Garden and on to Europe After the Rain 🤣

√ Phil Oakey. Human League used little hand held Casio synths on many tracks for both their bass line and rhythm track. I was in the UK to witness the backlash of 'musicians' against the rise of the synthesizer, forbidding Human League from joining the Musician's union, ranting on about them taking away the jobs of 'professional' musicians. Much of John Foxx's work elaborated upon the DIY, in your garage simplicity and revolt that was part of punk in the mid-1970s. From my perspective, punk and thereafter were a severe reaction to the profound degradation of music that was Disco. Simply escaping from the dull repeating single thud beat of Disco was a revolution. It could not have been more wonderful to those of us appalled by what corporations had done to music, the nausea induction of their 'Power Pop' garbage. - - We require another music revolution right now, a revival or ART over financial gaming.

Totally agree with John about Simple Minds especially circa Reel to Real\Empires/Sister Feelings call era. Such great experimentation and words. What a pity they went arena rock.

OMG Telstar this freaks me out (though I know it by the Tornadoes not the Shadows?) ....first time I heard it it felt so deeply familiar that i'm convinced I heard it in utero, being born in the 60s). It is sad yet magnificent , open space possibilities yet a sad wise heart. Could listen to/read JF interviews all day, always something to chew on <3

I wonder which Korg synths hes talking about. Maybe the Volcas?
@williamolsen206 жыл бұрын
He would have to be for the price, I am not sure because I am American. Doesn't 60 quid sound about right for a volca? Korg also has the minlogue and other synths along that line that are relatively affordable too.

I've liked John Foxx for ages and I'm pleased to hear him praising Phaedra, that is a magical album loved that for ages too. I don't often hear people praise Simple Minds so was very pleased, New Gold Dream is the one for me, but I also loved "I Travel" from Empires and Dance.

Talking about 'Tomorrow Never Knows' John is not quite correct that it was all about George Martin, while he undoubtedly used his technical genius to implement the ideas - Paul McCartney was the one who actually went out and recorded and then brought all the tape loops to the studio that were used on that track...
@keriford547 жыл бұрын
I second that, I think Bill Burroughs used McCartney's tape recorder, there were cut ups and tape loops in the air.
