personally I'm not a big fan of time gating in crafting weapons/tools/characters, especially after that hours of grinding for them. Everything else I'm fine with, I only think of them as timed evens or something.

As someone with over 3000 hours of Smite played on Steam, I can confidently say Dota sucks the least.

i'm opposed to rmt but when the argument is grind efficiency, nothing is more efficient than either running a bot army or getting an actual job and just buying what you want. Most people play these kinds of games because they find the grind itself fun, but there are people who hate grind. The reason I am opposed to rmt is more to do with hating bots than the rmt itself. rmt always brings a bot army with it, and in the case of p2w games like lost ark, the target audience is the same audience that will shamelessly rmt, thus creating a bot plague.

I dont think RMT is that bad if the gaming company isnt selling the ingame items like blizzard does with WOW token then its beyond fcked. If a player farms the currency to sell he is part of the free market and its most likely a net positive for the game as the market has more liquidity and more people participating.

I gave up caring about RMT a long time ago. You can't affect how others play and economy is broken/dictated by streamers, no lifers etc just as much as RMTers. I buy currency when I'm too busy to league start and get rich. I buy a POE supporter pack every league I play - I think GGG cares more about that than RMT otherwise we'd see mass bannings of the 24/7 5-way carries, deep delves etc who are farming the currency to RMT.

I wouldn't mind all this much if it wasn't for the crazy prices on trading market and the league-centric approach to the game, which gives you limited time to actually play for fun. You only play to get currency, because there’s no time making a viable build that would make fun. Then add to this no free respeccing, harsh punishments for dying, small stash space that requires you to come back every five pieces and above all the absolute dogshit RNG. I thought Diablo 4 was bad with the items, but PoE is even worse, because even if you find something viable guess what... You lack currency to make your gear fit gems, armour, resistances... It's such a circle, where everything is about DPS and currency - no fun. I thought getting to maps will feel better but it didn't. That's why I gave up. It's boring and it feels like a chore.

5 years later with comeback gold and objective bounties, I miss the days when your early lead mattered at all. Now the last 2 or 3 decisions that your team makes in any game are the only ones that count, so solo/duo queue is a joke...

RMT shouldn't be ban-able, what about players who work 10hrs a day and have kids etc and don't have the spare 14 hours a day to farm currency on the game, I understand people who buy ridiculously high amount of currency could ruin the game but you should be able to buy 15 divine with real money so the players who don't have unlimited time to play the game can still get a half decent build.. its an amazing game but lets be honest you need to be either unemployed , have no family of your own or have a job where you can work from home. GGG love to put up skin cosmetic packs out for $500 so we can look pretty but wont let us spend our money on our characters for currency to run a good build, and streamers always say just play the game yeah just play the game. funny how non streamers don't get divine drops or apothecary but the streamers always get them. rant over

Smite was unknowingly my first taste of mobas but i mainly did arena…i loved it but i played it on my sisters ps4 and lost my account progress to it being stuck there so i dont play it anymore and kinda sad cause i had so many gods on there. Dota 2 it was a moba that was on steam and steam is my main platform so i said “sure” i did not stick with it long basically booted it then never again for no reason. League of legends my friend played it hardcore a while ago he taught me and was gonna teach another of our buds but he fell off before starting. I eventually got the basics and played on my own a but got addicted for like a week maybe a month just off the getting kills and building up my items on sett but kinda got bored quickly because of the fact there was only summoner’s riff and no other casual mode like smites arena so i fell off after learning jhin a little. I know basics of top and a tad bot lane but will get murdered in mid. 2v2v2v2 is awesome and i wanna try it hope it is permanent cus that is my only alternative so i can actually come back to it. Also thanks to having gotten into valorant hard before league it drove me to league and also arcane did too. RIP Gigantic. Pls bring it back to steam stores for like $5 flat and the community would run servers for it PLEASE!!!

At the start of the league, farm Hillock for Oni. Keep farming and selling them for 3/4 of the league. At the end, use all of your mirrors you’ve made to make a T-1 character and play that for the remainder of the now “dead” league. Super easy! Super fun! Super viable!

If you have never played a MOBA, and you want to just have some casual fun seeing what a MOBA is about for 15-150 hours.. play HOTS.. it is by FAR the most accessible of the MOBAs. It has the least complexity and the most handholding. If you want to play a MOBA for thousands of hours over years, with the biggest playerbase, most polish, largest esports scene, and most continued investment.. then play and learn League of Legends.... just expect it to take a long time to get decent and even longer to become dedicated. DOTA 2 is a solid game, but some of it's complexity (like couriers and turn rate) are primarily appreciated by die-hard DOTA fans who are used to it, not the rest of us. It also lacks client-side latency hiding, which makes you always "see the truth", but makes the game feel extremely laggy. It's built more like an RTS like Starcraft than an action MOBA like League of Legends. It also basically never changes, and hereos are not visually distinct enough, which makes learning it very confusing. The only people I know who prefer DOTA2 to League are people who got deep into DOTA or DOTA 2 before they played League and never put the time into really learning League. I don't really get SMITE. I think it's mostly appreciated by people who are so into 3D aiming they can't stomach playing the much better top-down MOBAs. Go play Valorant instead.

i used to play dota 2 and lol few hours daily with different groups of friends, for 4 years straight. if you're more of an individualist, then play lol. whether full team or solo, if you're good on your own mechanics and champ, you'll win about 75% of your games. again, i say it that /you/ specifically will (HAVE TO) win. don't rely on your teammates, but learn how to use their existence to your advantage in a limited period of time ( fights are short in lol, and if you're ahead you better use your teammates as meatshields or coordinated bait in order to gain upper edge and give some meaning to their lives) in dota 2, since the game is way slower, it can be more tactical. for however much you could organize strategy in a circle of monkeys. but you get the point. dota 2 is to lol what battlefield is to call of duty. like yeah, they're shooters, but it's something else. in dota 2, given the slowness of the game, each death has impact. mistakes are grave and if exploited by a good player then he will turn those mistakes from grave to final. the snowballing effect in dota 2 has to be like that. and the way dota was back then: no hero is overpowered if all heroes are overpowered

I played both original dota in warcraft, Dota 2, and LoL religiously. then I found Smite. Even though it's probably the least popular Moba, which can be upsetting at times. It's by far the most just genuinely enjoyable to play for me, even considering the massive amount of problems. So long story short. I think it's all preference to gameplay. People are just gonna find the one that fits their interest. I probably just much prefer the viewpoint Smite has. And gods are cool. I'm also a skillshot enjoyer (Ezreal main in League). Sorry.

I wouldn't have the need to rmt but I feel like most yours arguments are in the ways the currency is obtained which is fair. However if it was just "i grind for currency" "i sell my currency to you for real cash" "we both happy" then a lot of the friction is actually just straw man. Devaluing currency might be true however we have empyreans group farming 20 mirrors a week. literally. I would view rmt like carry services for levelling. And I would argue most people do not view levelling as an appetiser they view it as a 4 hour tax to even get a build started. I also think being against player to player RMT when the core game forces developer to player RMT like no bodies business is a bit silly. For example everyone treats essence nodes as just the thing your meant to take on an atlas early because they make decent money for the time investment. However have you ever tried farming, buying and selling essences without an essence or premium tab? I have and its not bloody fun. The same is true for all the other forms of premium tabs. You are directly buying power from ggg and the common conclusion around players is "of course you have a currency, card, map, fragment, essence, fossil, oil, metamorph, tab, unique, flash, gem and quad tab and of course you have premium tabs to sell these items in client. so 1200 ggg coins for a real would value of $120 and its not like they are going to stop adding these tabs and its not like most of them couldn't easily be combined like essences/fossils in currency since they are a currency item. Cards, oils, and metamorphs, delirum should be part of the fragment tab and uniques, flasks and gems could easily be combined to a single item tab and all of these are basically mandatory and should be given for free and i say that as someone with over 50 stash tabs as it isnt temp power like buying currencey is, it is a permeant power with a compounding effect. Anyway I go on long enough for a video that got auto played in the back ground while farming xD

I support RMT in a game that wastes your time farming currency at 1/100th per hour of what I make at work. There’s also a massive difference between buying enough currency to start an endgame build and buying the build outright. PoE is a seasonal game. Most of us want to skip the tedium and jump right into the parts we find enjoyable. If I can do that with merely $10 every 3 months, I’m going to.
