I love how I used your Abaddon painting guide years ago, met you in person at Warhammer Fest 2019 and now using this guide to get my troops done 😂 appreciate it, our kid

the problem i have is you end up having cut them up and tape them on, and then it still often doesn't work time Vs reward/outcome, from personal experience great for eldar, long, clean flowing soft curve lines, good for spacemarines and tau for their more boxy designs, moderate for imp guard and sisters as details begin to creep in, and then theres ok for most of the rest the other issue is most stencils are not designed to be used this way, and often the scale is totally wrong other peoples experience may vary, and good on those whose made it work

The 90s has me for the nostalgia era - I picked up my first minis just before 2nd Ed launch. However the best era is one you havent mentioned, the Forge World/Imperial Armour era (2005 > 2016). The IA books brought something that the mainstream studio was desperately missing in the form of full narrative campaigns - Badab Wars, Siege of Vraks, Anphelion Incident, Fall of Orpheus, Doom of Mymeara, whilst also bringing in new fully fleshed out chapters like the Red Scorpions, Minotaurs, Astral Claws etc and exploring 40K off the heavily beaten track..... And then they brought us the Horus Heresy.... and my bank balance has never recovered since

Brand new to painting, I've watched a bunch of videos but this one by far is the most useful! I'm just about to go and buy my first lot of paints and put everything I've learned here into practice... Thanks so much

I got into rouge trader in the 80's but the 90's for me because that is the decade my son was born and he got into warhammer as well in the late 90's... that being said I do like the current sculpts.... and well whats coming next...

I didn’t start painting until a few years ago, right before 9th edition. Never realized how derpy the old marines looked until now.

I haven't watched the entire episode, but I did noticed a trend. A lot of painters in their late 40's or 50's kinda avoid using a wet pallet where most of the younger miniature painters strongly recommend it. I think it's a matter of generational difference, wet pallets weren't so popular in the 80's , they learned how to paint without one ,and now they're not the biggest fans of it. Obviously I'm generalizing here, but I think wet and dry pallets are both good for different scenarios. L.E. some people place themselves on a very high pedestal (due to their experience) ,have their heads way up their arses, and are to stubborn to see the benefits on either side ,only disadvantages. My two cents.

The problem now with 40k is that it has evolved from being that you play a cool character and its army to a cool army with characters in it. I remembered when you could create your own characters with so much wargear to choose from. I miss those days.

I know what else you do Ross , I'll have to see who I subscribed to first , I have a diddy print farm now , thought I would stop buying boxed miniatures from Warhammer, bandai, airfix, tamiya but nope I've actually bought kill team starter set since I had either of my printers running

I've just bought the 41st millennium kill team starter set for just over £60 delivered next day , I was happy getting 2 units, scenery, core book, recruit edition, card tokens, play board paper , measuring devices in plastic, dice , the way I see it I got plenty extra when I could have bought 2 units £32.50 each would cost me £65

I think everything released since 2019 it's great. It's then when they really understood the digital sculpt and how to consistently make great things. Indomitus was a BANGER, and bladeguard are the quintessential space marines. Every marine should be compared against them, new and older ones

10s. If you say anything else you are too old, coping, lying, or just plain wrong. Old models suck, especially old Marines. Primaris proportions is the best thing to ever happen to Marines.

1: every chapter needs to have AT LEAST Chaplain and Librarian Dreadnoughts, in EVERY Dreadnought chassi! 2: every chapter should have dreadnought special characters! 3: some chapters should have special dreadnoughts, Salamanders Flamestorm/MeltaLacers, Ironhands Techmarine, Dark Angels Plasma flamers/Phospex weapons/ Dark Shroud /Watcher in the dark(psykic immune aura), etc...

To, anyone outside the hobby , this discord and discussion might seen like gobbleygook. However, this is a typical total geek of geekdom converse , this is what we do and we love it. Yes, we know its not to be taken in a serious note, and have a laugh about our/the subject matter, we know is all in our heads ( we can never forget ) .Also, great to hear the lads have a bit of banter, and convey some passion about the models we love and perhaps not so. The converse reminds us that our opinions are subjective and on occasion very funny ( Glasgow 1,2,3.,4) .

Puts on pedantic voice: The first Gaunt's Ghosts book came out in 1999, but the stories first appeared in Inferno magazine in 1997/1998. (I no longer have my originals to check, which is a shame as Dan Abnett signed my book 😥)

The 5 man space marine plastic vox that your on about did exist. It was called:- space marines, warriors of the imperium. They were i think £5 a box, and there were other £5 boxes at the time. 90's is the vest era of marines for me as everything was new and fresh. And im lucky to still have a lot of it. 2nd ed all the way 😁
