Love you play, Man! You should do videos with you playing 4 bars and then taking 4 bars break. That way, the amateurs like me could pretend to jam along at home.

That was as very cool review. I appreciate your approach and your focus on the trumpet as a tool for expression and creativity, and less about the technical pros/cons, of which there are plenty of other reviews out there for! Kudos for picking up on the bell dial as the secret sauce. I've had my gen 2 Edwards for about 15 years. It's amazing how much of a difference decoupling the bell from the valve chamber makes. It's like a totally different horn in how it responds, feels and sounds!

What about playing some pedal tones to relax your chops?
@AllThingsBrassAndTechnology19 күн бұрын
Hi, thank you for interacting. You probably heard me say several times in this video that what I am showing in this video works for me. I'm sure there may be many techniques trumpet players use to recharge their chops when they get fatigued. I only teach things that I do and that work for me. If Pedal tones work for you then you're all set. A good teacher only teaches techniques that they use and demonstrates it like I did in this video. 💯 🎺 ❤️

In the lower part of the lower register my notes still feel like they want to ‘slip out’ do you know what I mean? Been playing for about 6.5 years..

I do something very similar.... I also lightly flutter my lips and play some pedal tones.

Hi Darren. I love the way it sounds in these very simple exercises. In my case, I've practiced and practice many long notes. When I was a child and started playing the trumpet it sometimes sounded subtone. My teacher was a classics teacher and this is not what I wanted (I'm a computer ingenieer). Today it is very difficult for me to achieve it. It's as if a part of the air isn't converted into sound. It seems easy but it isn't, at least, it's very difficult for me. And personally it's something I love. When I practice bending, that effect sounds a bit, for example. I think it's just blowing, but sometimes I also use the syllable "tuaf", which was what I played when I was a child trying to play "ta" or "ti". Thank you for your channel, I love it, it is motivating and inspiring, to continue practicing. Greetings from Spain

I have a question that I asked 3 different trumpet teachers and got 3 different answers...should we oil the trumpet every time we play and after we finish playing ? What is YOUR opinion ?
@AllThingsBrassAndTechnology21 күн бұрын
Hey Fam, thanks for the question. I only oil them when they start to feel sluggish or slow. I think over oiling them is unnecessary and a waste of oil. When they start to feel slow, oil them and only then. Always here to help. dB

Looking forward to seeing the full warm up routine. One thing I saw last year and added to the first part of my warm up is this little leadpipe playing thing from Gerard Presencer kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ntqapa53yJ6vimw.htmlsi=2hvULGYR5I87eQXJ . Just finding the most resonant note on the leadpipe (for me, it's usually C#.) I can really hear the bell start to vibrate big time. Once I have that note, I just play it nice and loud about 4 whole notes and that's it. I think it helps to quickly jumpstart and activate my chops for the rest of my warm up.
