I wish this Filipino Martial Art will continue and grow as wild same with other discipline likes Judo, Karate and Taekwondo. And be part of the regular events in the Olympics or at least in the ASIAN games (different from SEA games). But the main issue is MOST Pinoys are not interested to learn this fighting art nor knowing it. Filipinos are addicted in Basketball. The government should focus and spend lots of money for this. I'm an Eskrima-Kali-Arnis fighter, instructor and trainer since 1994. Also I'm a former member of the Philippine ARMY Arnis Team 👊🥋🥇

It is a strange thing, but as I have been in a number of knife fighting situations, and last year had to face a blade barehanded, after already having been stabbed in the neck from behind in a sneak go by a meth addict, I find these scenes bringing back flashes of the strange and surreal moments as I relised I had been attacked and stabbed in the neck, and had to switch from relaxed summer afternoon to straight killer instinct mode....I blocked a third attempt to stab my neck and promptly disarmed him (,am Eskrimador) and then he produced a sharpened screwdriver. I ended up disarming that, but not until after a third stab wound to my neck. This time I thought that I was gone, and I was just so relaxed and accepting of that. But all three just missed my jugular, and I had him dead to rights. I let him go, even though I had the right to kill him. Watching this brought back the feeling, particularly, of that recent incident. Mi Vida Loca!!

He is using a Spanish fighting system called KEYSI. Keysi is a self-defense style based on the study and cultivation of natural instincts, combined with the basic principles of combat: it was created by the Spaniard Justo Diéguez Serrano. It has been used in Jack Reacher and Nolan's Batman. It is very similar to the Philippine system, but leaving out the sleight of hand.

Here in the Ph. our Parents teach us arnis at a young age, it is not just a normal arnis with two sticks but arnis with multiple sticks called broom sticks... If we do something wrong and we saw our Mom holding the broom stick we know that it is time for the lecture about arnis, so we prepared ourself to protect the most vital part in our body..LoL🤣

The fight scene in the prison yard was garbage. While he's doing all these fancy moves, everybody is just standing around waiting their turn. They just line up right in front of him. Really? He would have gotten shanked in a prison fight, but forget the prison yard. This would'nt even happen on the street. Was this a comedy?

Just fight in a Filipino Way in KALI that is KA = Kamot (Hand) + LI = Lihok (Move/Movement). The Martial Arts of the early Filipinos long before the Spaniards colonized or came to the Philippines. Kali is a Bisayan term for Eskrima or Arnis (maybe Spanish).
@MrTagalish3 жыл бұрын
It's too bad, but realistically, only those who know would know.. Otherwise, the lay person will think they're seeing karate, kung fu, or MMA. I've seen the broomstick split shtick done so many times, only people who know what they're watching understands what they are seeing.

The martial art specifically designed to outright kill the enemy with outright proficiency in many ways possible. Not debilitate, not stop, kill.
@anotherboredperson3 жыл бұрын
Most of them started this way. The struggles in the spice islands are simply a lot more recent than those in most countries- so they're old enough to not be hidden knowledge, but recent enough to still have survivors.
